More UCP intervention on behalf of their junior varsity players:

UCP and Smith are truly corrupt human garbage that needs to be thrown out immediately. When your only allies are corrupt public officials like Rice, Cartmell, and Chu, you know you are in the wrong.

More UCP intervention on behalf of their junior varsity players:

Insane decision to ban codes of conduct without having created the provincial regulation which will replace it.

So in the upcoming municipal elections who do we know is running for mayor?

- Tony Caterina
Who else?

As noted, the only serious candidates so far are Caterina and Cartmell. Hopefully Knack joins, which chatter suggests he is going to.

The roster is:
  • Malik Chukwudi
  • Omar Mohammad, Pediatric Dental Surgeon
  • Peter Sandhu, Former MLA
  • Tim Cartmell, 2-term Councillor
  • Tony Caterina, 4-term Councillor

A pretty hapless crowd of wannabes that ensures a low voter turnout (and that is frightful). A few names that I would like to see on the ballot -- Vivian Manasc, Lewis Cardinal, Sharon MacLean, Chief Darlene Misik... any one of which would make a solid Mayor and all would be a shoo-in for a Councillor slot.

That's the unfortunate reality of running for local government in the age of social media. It used to be a position of prestige and respect, but now it's voluntarily becoming a community punching bag.

If you approach being a councilor or mayor as generally having to defend what the city is doing, being intransigent or not responsive, it is not going to go well.

If you approach it as listening to the criticism and then proposing action in response it will probably work better.

I like Andrew a lot as a person and even councillor, but unsure if I would support as a mayor. Not sure if the vision is there? But maybe that’s the need for the next 8 years anyways, not so much vision, but non inflammatory, collaborative, safe, compromise-seeking leadership.

Andrew is a a classic middle of the road guy, supporting bike lanes…but never actually pushing for them to be super well done. Supporting police, but not in a “right wing” sort of way. Wants to curb sprawl, but doesn’t disregard the suburbs.

If Mandel enters, how does he sit alongside Cartmell and Knack?

Caterina is not deserving of another role in office imo.

Considering Caterina's lack of... well...anything as a councillor, i honestly don't know why he'd consider running for mayor. I'd imagine it's a little harder to maintain that job without doing a single thing. I mean I can't recall him ever standing up for or against something and most Council meetings he looked like he was just on the phone, doing whatever kids these days do on their phones
