Good article, Northern Light, thank you. I'll just add (unmentioned in the article) that the 'Richford Arms" in Erie PA, is a 2/3's scale former 'Ford Hotel' and still exists.

Also 1425 Rene-Levesque Ouest in Montreal. It didn't last long, becoming CBC's Montreal studios till the 70s. It's offices now, with the openings between the wings glassed in.

Richmond at University Avenue, just after the completion of the extension south of Queen. The church is the Church of the Ascension, designed by Darling & Curry in 1877 and demolished in 1933. Originally mid-block, the extension made it a corner site.

They had painted the bricks (white for example) because of the soot that covered just about everything, from coal fired boilers and furnaces.
