What about, and here me out before judgement, but what IF during the summer/festival/high construction months of July/Aug transit is 100% FREE!?!?!?!

Use it as a gateway to higher transit usage, remove barriers and promote easy access to places like Downtown?

Personally, I am not loving the negativity around a bridge closure and 'yet another reason not to come Downtown', SPIN this into an opportunity.

That is all.

^ I don't see a downside to your suggestion other than a minuscule amount of lost revenue -- but that would be a good bet against better usage in the long haul. Worth a try I would say.

Yes, its a good idea. Often mid to late summer feels a bit quiet downtown, although so far not as noticeable this year. However, given the bridge construction that is just starting it is timely.

I wonder why they didn't opt to go with one lane in each direction rather than diverting all northbound traffic to the James MacDonald Bridge?

I'm guessing this is to reduce the number of accidents on the bridge.

The NB bridge was renovated during the mid-2000s but I'm unable to recall what traffic diversions were in place at that time.
