Parking lot with walls being retained it is!
I don’t think that’s possible (or shouldn’t be)…Parking lot with walls being retained it is!
So does this mean something may happen sooner rather than later with the site?
I was only kidding about the parking lot will walls.I don’t think that’s possible (or shouldn’t be)…
The previous parking would have been an “ancilliary use”. Using the site as a parking lot would change that to “primary use” and it’s my understanding no new surface lots are to be approved (per the Arlington site).
I'm sure they will be braced somehow to prevent collapsing.Wouldn’t leaving the walls up be a security risk for the parked vehicles?
I was thinking they restrict visibility from the street making vandalism etc. invisibleI'm sure they will be braced somehow to prevent collapsing.
Who cares about the cars? Let's worry about the walls.I was thinking they restrict visibility from the street making vandalism etc. invisible
Anyone remember the colourful metal fence that was in front of a parking lot on 104th St. that looked like graffiti *cough*aurora borealis*cough*. that fence of shame might as well be used again to remind us of how great downtown Edmonton was in the 90s.
For those that have never seen this, check it out: Metal fence 2012
Come to think about it, I am very disapointed that such a parking lot would even be allowed on 104th st.
As city public art installations (which is what the fences were - the WORKS and the Edmonton Arts Council would have more information) I think they should have beeen stored beside the 97th Street farmer's market's rooster signage (not the pylon sigh which is still there) and the public art "fans" that were once mounted on both sides of the 97th Street bridge...We got in A LOT of trouble for taking that down to construct Icon. Literally called all the groups and nobody had ownership of it so we removed it for construction and offered to put it up somewhere else.
Ah the good ol days.
