The arena is awesome, JW & Stantec towers are beautiful, OEG has done a lot to activate the fan park over the years. Trying to figure out why it's been so hard to fill out businesses around the plaza. Is it just lost momentum from early excitement for the development that can't be regained? Maybe I am being pessimistic and maybe there is more adjacent development occuring that was made more viable (i.e. station lands) by it's existence.

Look around, it was the whole downtown core of Edmonton that has lost momentum just as this development was being completed. There are tons and tons of empty commercial and retail space nearby.

If ICE District were in any some other city it would probably would have been fine. In fact, it is one of the few areas downtown now where all the empty commercial and retail space is being steadily filled, although painstakingly slowly.

You guys got to get outta town one day. Been to San Fran’s Market St or ANYWHERE in DT Seattle lately? Both are complete and utter ghost towns with zero.zero retail…..it’s not just us….get over it……

I realize I didn't specify, but I was just thinking of other Canadian cities. I am not as familiar with the current situation in the US as I haven't gone there for a while. Although, sort of comforting to know it isn't just us.

If only a couple of the restaurants in the Edmonton tower could swap spots with a couple banks in ice district that would look nicer, but first now I'll take the banks and anything else filling the empty spots around Rogers Place
