Getting back towards topic, I wonder if GO will be testing out on-demand services from some of its outer GO rail stations. There are several with limited or no onward local transit access, including Bloomington, Gormley, Acton, Georgetown, and Old Elm. Halton Hills has no local transit service, and would probably be a good place to start testing the market for local transit. Even larger systems like Brampton Transit has been mandated to include some sort of on-demand service by the province, hence the Argo electric minibuses in an area surrounding the downtown there.

Back in the day in Pickering they had buses that would drop you off/pick you up from your house to the GO station. It was based on region. We do have a last mile problem and building more parking doesnt solve anything.

Looks like Metrolinx is planning to offer some sort of on-demand transit service based on this "Call for Tenders" for suitable software.

I believe GO Transit offered this type of service in its early days but the playing field has since changed and it'll be interesting to see how they compete with Lyft and Uber.
I believe this is part of the Joint Procurement Initiative, as in, the software will be going to municipalities and not used by Metrolinx itself.

The Province did not mandate anything - Argo is just very effective at lobbying politicians to push for on-demand transit. They have some political connections, if you look into who works there...
