Something to note. The MPXpress range of locomotives (MP36s, MP40s, and MP54s) are no longer being listed on the Wabtec site. It is likely now that the new order of diesel locomotives will be a different model.

I noticed that there is a siding that is out of service at the Acton GO station. Would there be any benefit in bringing this track back into service so that trains could pass each other between Guelph and Georgetown?Siemens Charger confirmed![]()
It's not. The tender is still open until August 30th.Send me the links where it says Siemens charger confirmed.
then again.... other than these 2 units, are there any other locos around that have a realistic chance of winning this? It's not. The tender is still open until August 30th.
The only models that are readily available are the Siemens Charger, the EMD F125, and the MP54AC if it is still available.then again.... other than these 2 units, are there any other locos around that have a realistic chance of winning this?
I seriously doubt the emd 125 will even be considered given it only has 1 customer after all these yearsThe only models that are readily available are the Siemens Charger, the EMD F125, and the MP54AC if it is still available.
Although maybe there’ll be a real curveball and Alstom will try offering something up so that when the electric locomotives arrive there will be atleast one common manufacturer between the electric and diesel power.

Ate they still in production? Does Alstom have the rigs to build it still?ALP-45DP?
Well it’s still being sold by Progress Rail, so there’s still a chance.I seriously doubt the emd 125 will even be considered given it only has 1 customer after all these years
Also I think it may actually have a chance as I heard the Chargers have reliability issues in colder weather,
and since the F125 is an EMD, it has similar parts to the F59s, MP40s, and even a few parts of the MP54s.
Yeah I was doubting the whole Charger reliability issue, especially considering that if that were true, it’s likely VIA would have not purchased them for HFR. I was just relaying what other people said to me, but I guess that is the nature of these rumours. My apologies. That story has been put to rest by three years of operations of the Chargers in the brutal Chicago winters. But hey, if you want to keep propagating an incorrect rumour.....
The amount of parts commonality between an F125 and an F59, MP40 or MP54 is measured in the fractions of a single percent. For all intents and purposes, there is none.
Also keep in mind that EMD hasn't existed in 12 years.

All I wanted to say was I don’t think that the Charger is 100% going to be selected, considering that this an open tender and Metrolinx would have not done this had they knew the Charger would be the only choice.
They will need to get in line since Amtrak just ordered another 50 chargers.Yeah I was doubting the whole Charger reliability issue, especially considering that if that were true, it’s likely VIA would have not purchased them for HFR.
