And we all know how those hybrid MCI's turned out. Not to mention those battery powered double decker buses that never entered revenue service.
I guess this is the reason most of the DD buses have disappeared in Europe last year compare to 2012. Those DD have been replace by articulated buses that are battery power, though I did see the odd DD here and there..

Seeing a lot more MCI GO Buses on the road these days compare to DD.

Which Series of cars is it? I see the Series VII cars being repainted in the article but that at most would only be 94 coaches.
I assume the balance will be made up of the faded looking Series 2, 3, and 4 coaches.

Hopefully they don't touch the Series VIII cars for a while, their paint is still in reasonable shape and it would be a shocking waste of money.

The later ones yes.

Some of the older ones (most notably cab cars 251, 252, and 253) are in pretty rough shape.

If 242-250 were to be reactivated

Them + the Series II cabs would equal to 24 added cab cars

That could lead to GO maybe ordering more than 13 locos (perhaps the 33 if 20 more are added to the order)

And since MPI is no longer around, and EMD's passenger locomotive was a failure that leaves us with the Siemens charger? Which has a year backlog at least. So what does that leave us with? Something we haven't seen yet?

The F125 is still available for sale so I would not count it out just yet.

It's a totally different platform vs what they have today. Plus it's not even Cummins powered.

I only see two potential contenders. Unless MPI is going to ramp up production again. Are there any other agencies looking for new passenger motive power, with a winning tender other than Siemens?

Not really, the only other thing I can think of are the agencies that receive non newly built locomotives (ie. Trinity Railway Express receiving rebuilt F40PHs or West Coast Express receiving a rebuilt F59PH)
