Metrolinx has more bilevel coaches than they can realistically sell off. Metrolinx is currently refurbishing their oldest coaches. They're even refurbing their oldest cab cars. 214 just got put back into service. Metrolinx wouldn't be spending all this money refurbing their coaches and cab cars if they thought EMU were in the works. It's going to be electric locomotives hauling bilevels. I assure you.
Buy Exo’s 20 ALP-45DPs to launch, and order a bunch of ALP-46s for wider rollout, come on let’s go :D

I’m on an errand to Aurora, and looking at the new platform construction at Maple. The bases for what must be future OCS poles are inplace on the platform…..but their placement sure seems bizarre. I’m all for function over beauty, but putting the poles in the middle of the platform will make things look junky when the wires arrive - IMHO anyways.

Looks like there will be crossovers just north of the platform….but one would hope the double track is extended all the way south to Rutherford, enabling ise of both platforms there.

I disagree. You won’t even notice them. No different than a light pole. Pretty standard practice for them to be on the platform. You see that all over Europe.

Interesting points from Paul here re electrification

About this time last year...cc @Willybru21

"By the end of 2024, we'll have a clear construction schedule" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I could be wrong, but I don't think they have released any materials outlining project timelines. If anyone knows anything, I'd be super interested in learning.

But I do understand why Metrolinx doesn't want to share project timelines due to the track record of some of their historic projects... but the fact that for the most part the public is currently left in the dark as to when this "region redefying infrastructure" will become a reality is unfortunate. I know GO expansion as a whole is a bunch of smaller projects that when combined in concert will result in massive service improvements, but Metrolinx needs to do a better job at keeping engaging with the public and keeping them informed.

I imagine that comment was based off the presumption that transferring control of the GO Network to ONXpress was still a good to go. With the whole handover being delayed, I imagine making a concrete improvement schedule for anything is a lot more difficult.

Just bringing this here as well

Have they given up on this or something?
The Lakeshore lines are preceding as they are outside of the train shed.

My guess of what’s limiting work on the other areas is less about the train shed and more about the platform configuration. I would imagine they want to tackle this issue first rather than install OCS and redo it all down the line.

Honestly, this can't be a surprise. If this was the gating issue, why have they not done anything with it over the past decade?

This is becoming absurd. Metrolinx was to be sharing details at the end of last year around the results of the development phase. What the heck is the plan?

@Willybru21 over on the Discord server "Global Transit & Infrastructure Central" posted this image in the GO Transit thread. Apparently at the recent TRACCS conference, a version of this map was shown and @Willybru21 was able to clean it up. cc @smallspy @crs1026 @Northern Light @reaperexpress
