Would be nice if they could finish that bridge in time for the Markham Indy, but based on what we've seen so far I don't have high hopes. At least they completed the double track south of the bridge to Kennedy, which enables half-hourly service from Union to Unionville. Not great but at least it's twice as much as they currently run.
the real frustrating part of all this is that its so simple to do... not really sure why CN and ML are making it so hard....

It will be called the Super-Rome Bridge 'cuz it sure wasn't built in a day.

I have been told that the funding was cut or reallocated - so any move to construct will require new funding in some future budget.

iirc CP raised a concern back then and work just stopped ..... shame.,

edited. thanks,,, both are crooks either way...

I have not heard that rumour confirmed… although it’s plausible.
But how are CPKC “crooks” if there is indeed an impact on their operation that they can’t live with ? The question ought to be, how did ML miss this ?
Personally I am wondering if the movement on Alto has changed things somehow.

I thought someone here posted awhile ago that they had heard there were soil/embankment issues with the CPKC bridge abutments. @Northern Light has a great memory.

Maybe someone has been reading this thread and this announcement will be for it.

September 11 Metrolinx board meeting documents have been uploaded with the exception of the capital projects update.

From the GO/UP Capital Projects Update to the above meeting:

There's a good photo of the interior of the USEP work, I have placed that in the Union Station thread.

Those are nice photos in the “update” slides. I was referring to the written quarterly reports. I’ve edited my original post.

As usual, the report is a cherrypicking of single data points without any linkage to an overall schedule or work plan.
It's downright misleading to claim that the Kitchener fourth track is "nearing completion", when the Randolph underpass isn't ready, and several miles of the fourth track haven't been laid yet, and signalling for the Nickle-Humberview stretch (which was installed in 2014) hasn't been commissioned. The line is in fact down to two tracks thanks to prep work for the St Clair Smarttrack station.
And, as usual, tcd's are not to be found - for anything.
The progress on USEP is good to see.

PS: A guy climbing a radio tower is an indicator of progress towards laying double track to Bowmanville ? It's a pretty glossy report so long as you don't know what you are looking at.
