@smallspy do you have a sense on the timing of getting a third track up and running on the LSE (Danforth to Union)
To my layman‘s eyes the choke point will be between USRC and the bridge over Eastern Ave/East Harbour station. I do not see how a third track can fit here until the berm is widened.

At the current pace for constructing the new retaining wall, new bridges and berm widening I expect there to be enough room for at least the third track after the Eastern bridge by late 2025/spring 2026.

Does the fourth track construction between Pape and Woodbine complicate returning service to the third track? The unused third track acts as a buffer to the active construction zone right now.

I wonder if the Cooksville bridge is the one over Hurontario at Cooksville GO. Considering there's ongoing construction at the bridge now for the LRT, it seems like a great time to finish that up and then start up construction for something else.

Regardless, if they do this, I imagine they'll widen it to accommodate the future track on the north side of the existing platform where they already have the yellow line installed for that future track.

To replace the Hurontario bridge, they will have to put in centre piers for the two tracks now and don't see any provision for it at this time. Then there is the need for new piers on both sides of the existing sidewalks that will require the closing one side of the street to do it at a time and nothing so far. The big issue to you and others that currently use the stairs to the GO station will see the removal of them to put in the pier for the 3rd track as that stair is in the way for the 3rd track, It is possible they will put in a new stair when they replace the existing track 1 bridge or after they do it, I expect the new track 1 bridge will be a full length one in one piece that will be drop in on a weekend after the existing bridge is remove.

Have said that, there maybe no centre pier for the long span bridge, but do need the side piers that will still have the same effect on the sidewalks and stairs. Time will tell what will happen for everything.

Will ML replace the existing track 1 used solely by CP to protect the LRT as well a future 4th track bridge??

I would have thought the Cooksville bridge réhabilitation would have been a CPKC tendered project as they are the owners of the right of way. Even if Metrolinx for some reason was footing 100% of the cost, it would still be a CPKC led project if my understanding of how these contracts work.

The whole corridor is under CPKC control, but will allow ML to look after it since they are doing the LRT work now as well paying for it. No different to this bridge than when ML rebuilt the Toronto West Diamond, other than CPKC calls the shots when things can happen as well when the line(s) have to be back in service as well close.

CPKC hasn't been great a closing the lines as schedule from my experience on this corridor. CPKC was 5 hours late closing the line at Hurontario when the sidewalk tunnels in sections had to be installed for widen Hurontario to 6 lanes as they were pushing trains in/out of Toronto and not have to deal with trains dying on line. CPKC was to close the line for for the Toronto West Diamond at 2am but it was 5;30am before it happen as CPKC was pushing trains and equipment out of Toronto either to the Lambton Yard or the mainline to cut down on shuttling bridge trains by the Old Weston Rd route during the closure and on site for both events. In both cases, CPKC got the use of the tracks well ahead of the schedule time even with the late closure.

CPKC personal where on site the full time as well monitoring the corridor movements as train time is any time regardless of closures.

Metrolinx is doing work to advance the grade separation at Duke Street in Kitchener.

It's a bit odd to me because this older post from @ZEBuilder suggests they already did this work 2 years ago. I have no idea why they would need to do it again.
In terms of actual construction there has been some work occurring around the future station for phase 1 already. Duke Street (very end of the future station platforms) was closed for weeks this past summer as gas lines were relocated.

I rode the Kitchener line today to Bramalea - there were crews working in various locations along the line, more than I have seen in the last few months. Apart from the site of Woodbine station, which has a lot of earthmoving in progress, the work appeared to be piecemeal, but there were enough small jobs being done that in total it hinted at a gearing-up... but still hardly a concerted effort.
The temporary reduction to two tracks from three from Parkdale to Nickle is still in place, although there were signs that the third track and (new) fourth track are getting some preparatory work.
My theory is that there is some critical task that is still a ways away from being actionable let alone completed.... and so nobody is in a hurry to complete the other stuff. Clearly nothing likely to come together until next spring at the earliest.
As usual, it would be a lot better if ML would explain its intended timing of things.
