Maybe someone could help me out here, is this work related to one of the Kitchener line contracts? This is just at Rockwood (Fourth Line), but I'd imagine the storage track here wouldn't require a bore under the tracks..? Then again Metrolinx hasn't been transparent about what any of the contracts entail.

There was a culvert there wasn't there? I'd assume they are replacing it, perhaps so that it's wide enough for future tracks.

I'd assume it's cheaper to put the new pipe under all the tracks, rather than transitioning to traditional culvert underneath.

You can see how the next section of the bridge over Eastern Ave will connect to the new bridge

GO updated the construction-related weekend train service closures.

Stouffville has two upcoming weekends in June and July that I am hopeful be used to bring more track between Kennedy and Unionville into service (sans Highland Creek bridge which was last estimated to be a summer 2026 deliverable).

A November closure for both Stouffville and LSE has been listed, which is a candidate for a 3rd track installation if the bridges and retaining walls are ready.

There’s a list of dates added for Barrie, Kitchener and LSW lines but I don’t follow those projects as closely because I’m not a regular rider on that part of the network.

big question is when can they double track from kennedy to the lakeshore mainline? the second kennedy platform is still disconnected. what are they waiting for?

The cynic in me thinks Metrolinx won’t even begin preparatory work on Kennedy to the LSE corridor until all of the remaining bridgework needed for LSE to be quad tracked to the Scarborough junction is completed.

It’s still not public on how they intend to double track that section either. Will there be a rail-rail grade separation or will the comments from Vester a few years ago where Stouffville gets 2/4 and LSE gets 2/4 tracks be the delivered solution?

My other observations of the day from the UP (besides Crosstown)
- there were workers on the platform at the Mount Dennis GO station... still material and machinery on the platform, wonder what is left to be finished
- Sound walls have been completed at the future Woodbine GO station... a very substantial set of walls. There appears to be site prep going on, with earth having been moved and construction equipment on site. Could this project finally be starting? Being TOD, the contract may not appear in the Metrolinx listing as it is privately sourced.

Thought of a question given all the Lakeshore East updates on this thread. What construction companies are working on the Toronto East rail bridge upgrades?

I think (but am not sure), that is under at least 5 different contracts.

Some of the Ontario Line bridges are under that advanced contract between East Harbour and Pape for the alignment. But I think Gerrard is under the station construction contract. Meanwhile bridge widenings between between Cherry and Yonge are under a different contract. Woodbine was under an advance contract for the Lakeshore East OnCorridor - and I think that some other bridges further east are under OnCorridor itself.

But it's a bit of a stab in the dark.

As to how many construction companies? Lots.
