Some shots of the Lake Shore East Corridor ahead of this weekend's track shifting. Third shot shows where the new tracks will eventually merge back to old tracks. I read in the community notice that the new tracks are only temporary, which seems odd to me. Is there more shifting that has to occur? I thought GO tracks were going to stay on the South & East side of the corridor.

Great photos! You can see the last gasp of the old Riverdale station platform, that will seoon be gone for good!

I'm surprised that they are shifting already before the Dundas and Logan bridges are done. So there'll defininitely be a shift there. And at Gerrard/Carlaw when they start working on the station there.

At the south end, they must be into the track for East Harbour GO; maybe they'll have to do another shift there?
 
Got another update from today, this time showing the connection to be at the south/west end. They work quick!

The work on Lower Jarvis to create the supports for the expanded rail bridge moves on and they are now removing the temporary platforms they made with concrete blocks and earth. I assume they have put in the piles they need for the bridge supports. The one on east side is almost all gone and they seem to be starting on west one. Lower Sherbourne is similar but not as advanced - or wasn't a week ago.

If I am not mistaken, it will be the same type of bridge at Cherry St and Parliament to support the huge duct work that is needed to support all types of communication for the corridor.

You are mistaken. The bridges over Lower Sherburne and Lower Jarvis are so MLX can add an extra track.

The tracks are temporary in the sense that some of them will have to move again.

The new bridges over Dundas and Carlaw are not complete yet, so there will be another track shift there once they are done and ready to have the track installed on them.

There may be another shift or two at the very south end over the Don River in order to account for the work being done on the Ontario Line or at Eastern due to the ongoing construction of East Harbour Station. But at Queen, the tracks are now in their final position.

It looks like the layover site south of Oriole station is starting to be built.
Does anyone know what those bridge sections are for? They have been there for a year now, but have recently been assembled into longer pieces.

They are supposed to widen the 401 for better access to the 404 and DVP and why the new off ramp was built. Don't recall seeing any bridge sections on my last visited to the station.

They are south of York Mills near the beginning of the DonBranch.

If I am not mistaken, this is actually for the rehabilitation of the 401 through the Don stretch. That entire section is mostly on a viaduct which is nearly life expired. The plan is a new build carriageway on the south side, allowing the remaining sections to be worked on while maintaining full lane capacity.

I have not come across any EA or documents relating to improving access to 404/DVP.
