Niki Willis is opening her first bar after more than 25 years working at places like The Common, Fu’s Repair Shop, and Dolly’s Cocktail Bar.

Coco’s Cocktails & Agave Bar will be located in the basement of the downtown Sylbert building on 105 Street near Jasper Avenue. Willis told Taproot she’s aiming to open by early October.
I love the concept! Hopefully it works for that location

A couple Central Macdougall recommendations:
  • Baltyk Bakery is a Polish bakery close to the Kingsway LRT station. Their pastries and cakes are cheap (~$2.50 per 100 g) and good.
  • Central City Market is a Middle Eastern (Lebanese?) cafe + small, vaguely ethnic grocery store. The cafe's food is fresh and cheap.

Great to see https://carneasada.ca/ packed for lunch today!

Well deserved, Carne Asada is awesome. Up there for my favourite tacos in the city.

I think that area on Jasper ave and 105th could be a bumping little corner. Coco’s cocktail bar that was noted above is just the building north of there. Some other bars/restaurants adjacent, and its just across the street from the soon to be renovated Michael Phair park.

It’s got me thinking that some of these retail spaces, like this one right next to Carne Asada, might be a good investment…
