  • Rita Trattoria, Daniel Costa’s new restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Uccellino, is now open at 10349 Jasper Avenue NW.
  • It looks like there have been some test runs of the space, but its nice to see Atrium at Sabor now on social media, billed as “Edmonton’s first full-service premier event space and daytime cafe bistro” powered by Sabor Restaurant Group”. It is in the renovated Boardwalk building at 10320 102 Avenue NW.
  • I missed the opening of Chai Coffee Day earlier in the spring at 9665 101A Avenue NW.
  • Boa and Hare’s grand opening (including their evening cocktail hour!) is taking place August 16.
  • The Growlery’s downtown location, called The Den, commemorated its grand opening in late July. Find them at 10363 104 Street NW.

(Using a photo from Leopolds because I forgot to take one)

Tried the footlong mozzarella sticks from Leopolds, 20 bucks for a pair. They are a whole meal by themselves. Definitely a novelty item that's a lot of fun to order on a date, but the quality is stellar as well. Give them a try if your digestive system can handle an LD50 amount of cheese.

Daughter served "Evander Kane" last night or Bar Nero - was with a small group but she did not recognize anyone else as being an Oiler. Keeping his house in YEG?

Which btw - served me the "best Spicy Rigatoni" in my life - biggest pasta connoisseur on the planet....add some extra Calabrian chili oil served on the side. Weird menu of "Harissa Carrots," North African spice in an Italian joint (had to look that up) - threw me off. Meatballs were rich and savory - top 10 for sure. Chimichurri flank steak? Once again, keep it Italian please.

I recently learned that Kommune on Jasper has some sick deals on Mondays: $7 negronis and boilermakers (including non-alcoholic versions), and 20% off everything else.
This is such a great deal.

Is anyone else privy to some other sweet weekday specials at downtown or whyte ave restaurants? I’m hoping to have a place to go for every day of the week.

My contribution is Arbour on Wednesdays has half off pizza.

Whoa! I didn't know that one.

The other one that comes to mind is that Bianco and Rosso have great happy hour deals, including $10 margherita pizzas and some cheap drinks (depending on which one you go to).
