Lastly, no an uber to Pearson does not cost $40 from anywhere along Line 6, 99% of the time, stop with the dramatics.
To be fair, the comment...
Yeah, except getting to Pearson by car costs my $40, and getting there by TTC costs $3.25.

Not to rain on your parade, but people have been getting from Pearson to VMC in 15 minutes for decades - by car.
So after seeing all that, I typed this question into Google search:
"how much would it cost to uber from vaugan station to pearson airport"
Try it yourself. Copy and paste. You can see the replies from Google's AI, AND Uber's own website. :)

Lyft is giving me $26, it pays to shop around😂.

Anyways, this is a bit pedantic, after spending a few grand on flights and hotels, I think most people are "splurging" on the rideshare if it means not taking 400% more time to get somewhere, and not having the haul their luggage thru stations.

Believe it or not, most Torontonians are not such penny pinchers that they'll refuse to spend an extra 20 bucks for their rare flight. Otherwise, the airport express from Kipling would be a lot more busy.

Allegedly "rapid" transit should be time competitive with all potential modes of transport, especially when we're dumping billions into it. Vancouvers Sky train link to their airport is what Line 6 should have been, but alas. At least old Mammolito got see Line 6 be the dumpster fire he predicted it would be.

There is nothing pleasant or stress free about getting an Uber out of Pearson. Many, many times I’ve chosen to take the slower UPX to get home, because paying 5x to 10x more for an Uber wasn’t worth the cost.

Furthermore, there are many people who work at the Airport, who are not going to pay $40 to $80 per day on Uber rides to the Airport. And a disproportionate amount of them will live in northwest Toronto, due to its proximity to the airport.

Forgetting that airport employees could use Line 6 or Line 5 to get to and from work at Pearson Airport. Not just passengers. Now that is one reason why those two lines should be running 24/7.

Everyone has different priorities and comfort with transportation modes. I find taking transit (UPX) more relaxing than a taxi ride to the airport but that's just me. In my case, I'd pay around $50 more for the taxi. Even for the exact same price I'd rather take the train.

lol exactly.

Getting a ride out of Pearson, I have to deal with finding the Uber pickup zones, dealing with surge pricing, dealing with drivers cancelling rides or taking forever to come, traffic congestion, chatty drivers, etc. The train is far more relaxing.

Agreed, but again, the UPX (which I take daily) is fundamentally not the same mode of transportation as Line 6, and they have essentially no overlap in built form and level of congestion along parallel roadways.
