I used to read the forum to get a sense of what was going on in Edmonton, and then I read the many ridiculous insulting and cowardly posts by MacLac putting down rural people, UCP supporters and saying awful mysogynistic things about Danielle Smith. So I decided to join to call him out. What you said about the Stampede is laced with vitriol about a whole community of people, people you don't even know. Its classic bigotry, and you do it repeatedly and its not just me that has called you out on this. I don't agree with Liberal and NDP policies but I don't say vitriolic things about the people that support them. You completely insulted the great Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who did so much for Edmonton and Canada, and said horrible things about him - calling him a "traitor" because of a friendship he has and his political opinions which are his business. Calling someone a "traitor" should not be taken lightly but you did it with ease and glee when you made your cowardly remarks about Mr. Gretzky from the safely of your laptop - things that you most likely would never say to his face. You wanted to "cancel" and scrub any mention of Gretzky or his memory from Edmonton's history. You said all UCP supporters are redneck idiots who can't do simple math and compared them to Appalaichian people - so you also put down the fine people of Appalaicha as well - so typical and simple minded nonsense from someone who is probably formally "educated" and a proud urbanite. I mentioned my grandparents because they had rural roots and were hardworking, caring, patriotic and smart people - characteristics that most rural people in this country have and something you need to be reminded of - several of them where willing to put their lives on the line to defend this country which is something I'm sure you cannot even fathom. I'm not surprised you blocked me - as have many other "progressives" on this forum. I have never blocked anyone on any forum I've posted on, but people like you love to "cancel" out views you don't agree on and disparage people and communities that have different ideas than yourself. It's ironic you think you are a "progressive" and tolerant person because actually you are the opposite. Be kind my "progressive" friend - I hope one day you find peace.
You cancelled paragraphs.

Great article. I like Eby, very level headed and not so ideological. FN being equity partners in major energy projects is fantastic and IMO a key step for reconciliation. Economic prosperity for the Nation overall, creates good jobs for their members, and builds trust and cooperation, something that has been severely lacking. Turns out, instead of railroading over Indigenous people, you can work together with them, and everyone can benefit instead of just shareholders.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Union pledged European countries would buy US$750 billion (over $1 trillion Canadian) of U.S. energy – largely LNG – over the next three years and the South Koreans made a similar deal with the U.S — $100 billion (about $138 billion Canadian) in energy over four years, primarily LNG.

Worst PM and government in Canadian history Justin Trudeau said "there is no business case" for selling Canadian LNG to the world. The Germans and Japanese made special trips to meet with Trudeau two years ago begging for and LNG deal and Trudeau said "no deal" because LNG is a fossil fuel and bad for the environment. He basically said "no" to a trillion dollars - think about that. And still people in Canada voted for the Liberals because of TDS and the marines are going to invade Canada. Canada is being left behind, is not respected internationally, panders to Hamas and Islamic fundementalism and its GDP per capita basically hasn't grown since Libs took office under Trudeau. Do people realize a country needs to make money? Canada should be one of the wealthiest countries in the world but Liberal mismanagement is killing this country. Elbows Up everyone.

I wonder if Heather "Hamas" McPherson, the esteemed representative of "progressive" and highly educated Edmonton Strathcona will be able to out-hate Yves Engler and become leader of the shrinking and thankfully irrelevant seven seat NDP. Who votes for people like this? You'd think a highly educated person like McPherson could look up the word "genocide" and learn it's meaning before using the word incorrectly in every x-post she sends out. Also, has she done anything for her constituents - it seems all she does is focus on a geopolitical / religious conflict on the other side of the world. She is an embarrassment to Edmonton.

^ He's a Trumper thru and thru... so don't expect much.
Typical response - everything is about Trump. All Canada's problems are due to Trump. Worst performing government in Canadian history - but its all Trumps fault. The liberals have been a terrible government and have increased the federal debt to crazy levels, created more division between regions in Canada (this has always been their playbook), skyrocketing living costs, Trudeau had more scandals than all other PMs combined, embarrased Canada repeatedly on the international stage, told Japan and Germany that there is "no business case" for trillion dollars worth of LNG that could have been sold and used to help our country. But its all Trump's fault you say. Ridiculous. And by raising some very valid concerns about Carney, Trudeau and the Libs I get labelled a "Trumper". its a laughable response by Archited and is another indication of the sad state of affairs the country I love finds itself in. Trump is living rent free in your heads and you don't even realize it - he wanted Carney as PM and now we can see why. Trump did all his 51st State nonsense to get people like you to buy into all the "Elbows Up" Carney BS and help the this awful Liberal government get reelected - and now the country is paying for the consequences of this. The only reason the Liberals won is they dominated the over 60 vote from semi-retired and retired Boomers - people like you I guess. You get the government you voted for. The younger generations in Canada are going to pay a high price for Boomer voting choices. Canada is now 25th in the world in gdp per capita and falling. How low will it go?

After reading the little online fight you had on this forum with another poster - it was like two twelve year olds having a sissy fit - I don't take anything you say seriously anyways. Hopefully in the future you and the architect you had the online forum spat with can meet in person and have a T-Square duel so you won't further embarrass yourself. However, its surprising how easily duped you are by Trump (classic TDS you display), that an apparently highly educated person like you resorts to "MAGA" and "Trumper" taunts to people who question the Liberals and their 10 year record of mostly incompetence. At no other time in Canadian history did this country need a change of government more then now - but the frightened little Boomers scared of Trump and "MAGA" put an end to that.

Obviously you take what he says seriously enough to make four consecutive and lengthy posts in response…

Actually two responses - but who's counting?!
My mistake on the count - I suppose it’s just too easy to get lost in your diatribes.

Two it is - and non-consecutive - but I’ll still stand by my comment on what you do or don’t take seriously by your own responses.

Clearly people didn’t vote for the liberals they voted for Mark Carney an individual who has demonstrated a level headed and competent ability to manage finances. You only need look at the polling numbers pre and post his winning of the liberal party leadership. It makes me proud to be a Canadian who by and large are not blinded by party loyalty. Anyone with a modicum of rational thinking would see that Carney was by far a more qualified and competent choice as a leader.
