Did anyone else notice that the Stampede is still on? It should wrap up this weekend.

What's wrong with you? Seriously.

agree - absolutely ridiculous misinformed take about one of the greatest outdoor festivals in the world. Demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge on the history of the Stampede and also he insults a lot of people and communities - very bigoted. My grandma, who was one of the most caring, interesting and funny people I ever knew, grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta and competed in rodeos in calf roping events when she was a teenager - I think this is so cool. My great grandmother was a teacher near Bow City in a one room school house and her family were rural farmers who loved a good rodeo. I'm proud of my rural family heritage - several of my great uncles from the Bow City farm fought in WW1 and my grandpa fought in WW2. MacLac sure likes to insult a lot of people.

When will Mark Carney explain the EU-USA Trade Agreement? He told Canadians that we were the most European non-Europe country and was hoping EU and China trade would be the future for Canada. He has been in office for almost 5 months now and what has he accomplished other then enjoying his holiday and ensuring his corporate interests are doing well. I predict that not one major O&G infrastructure project will be completed during his term - too many roadblocks have been created by the liberals and too many special interests with veto power. Many Liberal supporters need to realize that wealth generation is very important and a country like Canada with vast resource wealth should be much wealthier than it is now. Canada has a GDP per capita that is similar to countries like tiny Belgium - how is this possible? The government cannot be the main economic driver. The USA is eating our lunch and securing massive energy deals with EU and Asia that will pump trillions of dollars into the USA over many many decades, while Trudeau said there "was no business case" for Canadian energy deals with the EU and Japan when leaders from those places were begging for deals a couple of years ago. Carney is just more of the same. Canada will add approximately 3 million immigrants from 2025 - 2027 - this is insane. The country under the Liberals has regressed so badly - economically and socially and its international reputation is much diminished. The provinces will not work together and the Feds are too weak to ensure that big projects that generate massive revenues will get built. I worry for my kids future in this country.

MacLac - the "progressive" hypocrite with a typical hate based diatribe based on stereotypes and bigoted half truths. I have coworkers, friends and family members that voted for the Liberals and don't like the UCP, but none of them ever say things like MacLac. And I respect their opinions but I never get the feeling they hate rural people for their way of life. MacLac, if you see a cowboy hatted rural family at Costco do you look at them and hate them? You don't even know them. You post some really bigoted things on this forum.

From Martin Pelletier - co-founder of a boutique investment firm, portfolio manager, hedge fund manager, outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) and financial columnist.

"The EU will purchase $250 billion/year of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) for three years, totaling $750 billion. NOW IMGAINE IF THIS WAS CANADA. IT WOULD BE A WHOPPING 10% OF OUR ANNUAL GDP. Think about what Trudeau did when he said there is no business case for LNG. Think about this when the Premiers of BC, Manitoba and Quebec put up road blocks for pipelines."

I still can't believe enough Canadians believed the 51st state nonsense and voted in the Liberals again - the undisputed worst stretch of government in Canadian history. Think of the damage they have done to the country. Carney won't be much better then Trudeau - he is climate change zealot and is already getting owned by Trump. When The Liberals took power in 2014 the GDP Per Capita of Canada was similar to the USA - now is it a full one third, and falling, below the USA and this will only increase. The Libs and Carney keep talking and talking, and not doing anything. They are on a 3 month holiday while the USA and other countries leadership are signing trade deals. Does Carney have a plan? He basically just gave 57 indigenous groups the right to veto any pipeline or natural resource project - only 1/57 needs to veto - plus Quebec and BC and the usual suspects will not be good team players. Canada is screwed - Trump was hoping Carney would get elected and now we are seeing why.

Too funny! I called it the way it IS! Being a cowgirl Grandma has NOTHING to do with either being a “Stampeder” nor the actual Stampede. A white cowboy hat wearing”Marauder” of Indigenous peoples is decent to you!? Good luck to you and your family. The actual Stampede event is an Oil and Gas past time of greasing each others palms….trust me….Ive worked for most of the Oil and Gas Majors….i know how it works.
Btw, I had grandfathers fight in WW2….not sure what that had to do with being a Cowboy?? I couldn’t resist myself, I unblocked you cause you are the most insane poster on here….but are always good for a laugh….what else you got? Btw, stay on the YYC thread since you are clearly a YYC’er.

You’re like Cartman on the latest episode of “Southpark,” Trump has dissolved all the Wokeness and now the “Stoopid” comes out of people now

If the CPC had put forward a strong candidate, they might have won. Even during the month of the election, the entire CPC platform was about Carney and not Canadians.

Poilievre was their strongest candidate. Unfortunately, he was too in love with populist slogans and extreme things like the convoy protesters that turned off a lot of Canadians.

The business case for another pipeline all the way to the east cost was shaky at best, even before taking into account all the political concerns. Of course, Europe needs natural gas and the US with its existing huge east coast energy infrastructure was already well placed to provide that.

For Alberta, I feel the best strategy now is LNG export from the west coast to Asia, which is as lucrative or maybe even more so than Europe and involves much shorter pipeline distances for us.

Things clearly haven’t changed in this country. Even the threats from south of the border can't get us working together. The fact of the matter is Manitoba and BC leftist governments will purposely land lock resources in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The biggest threat to Canadian prosperity is not Donald Trump or the USA, it's Canadian political disfunction and corruption. Canada is so far behind now - even if it got it together and built LNG terminals and pipelines the USA and other petro producing countries have eaten our lunch. Canada dithers endlessly - its a herculean effort to even twin one existing pipeline. So many Canadians do not understand the importance of developing our resources and getting them to market. Canadian household debt to income ratio is now #1 of the OCED countries by quite a margin. The Liberals continue to allow too many immigrants into the country and China's influence over the Liberals is still a serious issue. But yeah, Trump is the problem. Voting in the Liberals again in 2025 could be the last death blow to this country - it will interesting to see how it plays out. USA per capita income will be twice as big as Canada's within a decade.

If "populist slogans" and supporting the convoy protestors, who were not "extreme" unlike the "death to Jews" group who went into Jewish neighbourhoods and firebombed synagogues (who the Libs seem to support) is what made Canadians vote for Carney then Canada is truly doomed. Interesting that the Cons were getting massive support before the "51st State" nonsense from Trump, which incredibly worked and Trumps guy (Carney) got elected. The Libs benefited from the NDP vote caving and also from the unconditional support they seem to get from government dependent regions like Atlantic Canada where there is too many seats for the population. Remember, Atlantic Canada has almost as many HOC seats as Alberta despite having 2 million less population - What's up with that? Too many Canadians disregarded the horrible record of the past 10 years and voted Carney because they thought he would stand up to Trump. Carney is just another elite WEF connected New York corporate politician who is not what this country needs - well I guess the people get what they voted for. How's it going so far?

I used to read the forum to get a sense of what was going on in Edmonton, and then I read the many ridiculous insulting and cowardly posts by MacLac putting down rural people, UCP supporters and saying awful mysogynistic things about Danielle Smith. So I decided to join to call him out. What you said about the Stampede is laced with vitriol about a whole community of people, people you don't even know. Its classic bigotry, and you do it repeatedly and its not just me that has called you out on this. I don't agree with Liberal and NDP policies but I don't say vitriolic things about the people that support them. You completely insulted the great Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who did so much for Edmonton and Canada, and said horrible things about him - calling him a "traitor" because of a friendship he has and his political opinions which are his business. Calling someone a "traitor" should not be taken lightly but you did it with ease and glee when you made your cowardly remarks about Mr. Gretzky from the safely of your laptop - things that you most likely would never say to his face. You wanted to "cancel" and scrub any mention of Gretzky or his memory from Edmonton's history. You said all UCP supporters are redneck idiots who can't do simple math and compared them to Appalaichian people - so you also put down the fine people of Appalaicha as well - so typical and simple minded nonsense from someone who is probably formally "educated" and a proud urbanite. I mentioned my grandparents because they had rural roots and were hardworking, caring, patriotic and smart people - characteristics that most rural people in this country have and something you need to be reminded of - several of them where willing to put their lives on the line to defend this country which is something I'm sure you cannot even fathom. I'm not surprised you blocked me - as have many other "progressives" on this forum. I have never blocked anyone on any forum I've posted on, but people like you love to "cancel" out views you don't agree on and disparage people and communities that have different ideas than yourself. It's ironic you think you are a "progressive" and tolerant person because actually you are the opposite. Be kind my "progressive" friend - I hope one day you find peace.
