I think it's confirmed now that Eleanor Olszewski is running in Edmonton Centre.
Yes, it is confirmed now. It probably just took a while for the website to be updated, maybe they were waiting until it was official.

She is an experienced candidate, so she can probably get up to speed quicker than someone new.

Now that Randy has stepped aside in Edmonton Centre, I am fortunate to have a much stronger candidate in Edmonton Centre to vote for.
Below extracted from an email the Liberal Party sent to me and all member/donors in Edmonton Centre last night at 19:45pm.

"Dear XX
I'm pleased to share that Eleanor Olszewski will be the Liberal Candidate for Edmonton Centre in the next federal election, and will continue building on our hard work to keep Canada moving forward.

With a strong focus on important new engagement with Canadians, the Liberal nominations process helps ensure we’re ready to re-elect our dedicated Liberal team in Parliament and continue to elect even more talented, diverse, and hardworking community leaders as Liberal MPs across Canada, whenever the next campaign eventually arrives.

As we look forward to the important work ahead of us, the hope and hard work of Liberals across Canada will ensure our candidates and teams are ready to run competitive campaigns and earn another mandate from Canadians – including right here in Edmonton Centre.

For more information on the nomination process, please click XX.

Thank you for all that you do.

Sincerely,

Terry Duguid
National Campaign Co-Chair
Liberal Party of Canada"

He made my life a lot easier by retiring

And the Liberal candidate in my riding (Edmonton Gateway), just announced today, is Rod Loyola. Retired from the Prov's NDP and running now as a Liberal in the Federal election. That will leave a vacant seat at the Provincial Government level.

He had been an MLA for a while, so perhaps time for a change or something different I guess, although I was a bit surprised that included changing parties.

How big is the Alberta, Edmonton factor in this looming April federal election?

FOURNIER: We took the results, the poll-by-poll results from 2021 and transposed them on to the new map. The new map was good for the Conservatives. The Conservatives were not at a disadvantage in Edmonton because of the redraw (but) they are at a disadvantage because of the new polling numbers we see. Conservatives lead in Alberta on average, but we have seen several polls from high-rated pollsters that show the Liberals at 25, 26, 28 per cent in the province, whereas they’re usually in the teens. If they gain about 10 points in the province, those points will most likely be in Edmonton and in parts of Calgary.

Those voters who voted for the NDP provincially, perhaps they’d be interested in voting for the Liberals federally. Alberta is not an easy place to model or to poll. The numbers show that if the Liberals hold these numbers, they should be able to make a few pickups in the cities of Alberta. I’m not saying it would turn all red, because that’s not what the data says, but maybe two more and three more (for the Liberals).

No, but I didn’t think your “ordinary place of residence” was now in that riding and no longer in California.

I am going to stick my neck out again (there are several on here who get a kick out of taking a swing at me) I am going to predict that at least four ridings in Edmonton and five ridings in Calgary will go Liberal and that the Liberals will have a majority mandate on the 29th of April. In the majority outcome it would be good for Alberta to at least have that level of representation nationally.

The current predictions are for 2 - 5 in Alberta, so that is on the high end, but with everything that has happened, there have been big shifts in polling and they do seem to have some momentum.

In any event, it would be good to have at least more than one MP to choose from as a cabinet minister, or maybe Alberta could even get two or three.
