Does anyone know what happened to the Master Plan from 2020? https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2019/1...-plan-drp-discusses-citys-vision-future.40157

I really liked the plan, especially the improved connectivity with the elevated Promenade and the connection with the Bentway. But I am not seeing these being mentioned at all in the newest strategic plan: https://www.explace.on.ca/wp-conten...ace-Strategic-Plan-2022-2026-FINAL-Jun-27.pdf

I thought it would not only help with the connectivity between OL Station and the Ontario Place stuff (we are getting it regardless so might as well work with it), and hopefully would encourage more to be done in the Exhibition area. But knowing the way the city and its population are, I am afraid that a lot of these would be rejected.

Anyone knows any news?

An article about the new women's hockey team playing at the arena here mentioned that there are discussions about re-purposing the Food Hall into more of a year round facility.

relevant notes:

As the scale and scope of events increases, other long-standing arena users such as the Royal Winter Fair and concert acts also benefit, he said, adding that upgrades to the kitchen facilities are planned to provide more varied and elevated food offerings for suites.
Longer term, there’s hope the nearby Food Building can become a pre-game hub, offering dinner and drinks and a place to meet with friends, Boyle said. Right now, it’s the top attraction for the 18 days of the Canadian National Exhibition but shuttered as storage for the rest of the year. That lease is up for renegotiation in 2027 and given the growth of nearby Liberty Village — and over 2,000 entertainment, sports and convention events held last year at Exhibition Place — “consideration for the Food Building to be a year-round offering is on the table,” he said

Interesting thought, Im not sure if it would work, but given the amount of events that happen, and by then the amount of foot traffic down to Ontario Place from the subway, could get some use, obviously not as much as the CNE but still

Also there's the Liberty Village neighbourhood, who would maybe get a variety of restaurants within walking distance.

With the Coliseum being used by one basketball and two hockey teams,

presumably it will be available less often for concerts, which would underline the usefulness of a purpose-built indoor entertainment venue of that size.
The proposed OverActive Media 7000-seat theatre/esports venue looks unlikely to ever happen, and the Live Nation concept of a rebuilt indoor/outdoor venue on the site of the present Budweiser Stage has shown no signs that it will be moving forward any time in the near future.
