I really like the design. I would have preferred the wood just a shade or two darker but it could just be the pics/daylight giving the wood that washed out look - almost looks same colour as court house.

Funny enough, I just came across a design I did back in 2008 for a mixed use tower and arts hall for this very site!

That’s an elegant design man nicely done.

Just missing one thing. If it were me designing it I would put a comically large megaphone on the roof to blast whatever was being played inside the winspear nearby by.

It would be at least 25% the size of the tower itself.

Small anecdote. We have friends visiting with us from Spain and I was showing them all the buildings around Churchill square. I asked someone at the door to the winspear if we could peak inside, and he said he’s not supposed to but he could let us. He let us step inside the main performance hall and the symphony was in rehearsal. It was beautiful. Almost brought a tear to my eye. What a special space this is in a downtown that is struggling a little bit to find its footing

This brought a tear to my eyes (sharing it also in Oilers thread). Love when our arts and sports communities come together.

does anybody know what the roofing material is? I'm pretty sure it isn't wood, kind of looks like that recycled plastic "wood" folks use for outdoor decking.

  • The first phase of construction for the downtown district energy system, which includes connections to Winspear Centre, Century Place, and Chancery Hall, is nearing completion and utility operations are expected to start soon. Administration has developed a utility fiscal policy to guide utility operations, debt financing, financial planning and utility rate setting. Council’s utility committee is set to review the policy on June 23, and then council will make the final decision at a future council meeting.
