This was always a service road, has the building gone out to the sidewalk, necessitating a wider sidewalk on the other side?

Looking at a satellite view from 2017, it looks like some green space got 'reclaimed' in a way; it was just extra pavement for parking before this. Come to think of it, I recall cutting across the pavement when walking from the bus loop to Tory or Rutherford (both north of the bus loop), because the sidewalk on the left was just way too inconveniently placed by cutting in to the left to make room for parking. If I was going to Tory instead of the library, I wouldn't even bother going to the sidewalk on the right; I'd just stick to the road until I reached the sidewalk at the end. This'll be a lot nicer, and it makes sense (imo) given that they want Dent/Pharm to become a major administrative/student hub.

Unfortunately, they also took down some mature trees.

I used to walk that route from the bus to CAB and it was quite pleasant. This seems a bit cold, but give it 25yrs and then judge.

The older admin building will be coming down for a variety of reasons including functional obsolescence, op/maint costs and the desire to open up the quad to the south as a grand vista/entrance.

I think that's a damn shame. I mean I get that they want to open the quad, but that building is a gem. It just needs some love.

The pedway into SAB on the west side of the building is now open. It is indeed a two-storey pedway, looks pretty snazzy.

The admin. bldg. doesn't have any redeeming qualities from an architectural standpoint -- but it would be cool to see it gutted with just the shell remaining (creatively) making an entrance to the quad.

If it is going to go, take it away and make a beautiful at-grade entranceway.
