I don't always like the combination of old and new, but to my eye, this works!

I have fond memories of cutting through the old DP building on my way over to classes in the mid 80's. The door was to the right of (and of course back from) the door in this picture I think.
That building was so old school, but was somewhat run down and neglected even then. The new addition itself looks nice and visually I think it works well with the old building.

Will this building finally connect to the LRT station? The original plan for University LRT had tunnel connection from DP through the station to Education.

I do not believe the tunnel was ever done. Only the utility tunnels are there.

Looks like a major upgrade to the passageway from CAB to the dentistry building.

As far as grafted on future blocks? I'm loving it! The pattern on the glass really gives it a pop that otherwise would look like a standard Edmonton Moderne addition.. Well done!

And to think 10 years ago I spend two weird days walking around that building and most of the medical research labs on campus dropping off funding plaques on behalf of a research project. Also the reason why I fully support nuclear power since that building contained an operating reactor for decades under everyones feet without anyone noticing. I only found out because I nearly walked into the reactor room dropping those slabs of granite and plastic off! Gotta love CANDU slowpoke tech that is so safe and boring that you don't even know it exists.

^ Agreed... maybe for cheaper landscape maintenance costs? U of A is usually pretty good at preserving as much greenspace on campus as possible.
