I’m referring to Vancouver and Calgary. There are proposals/renderings out there for projects that would be taller than Stantec, and some have a high likelyhood of going ahead.
There may be such proposals because of severe geographic constraints they have to build higher in Vancouver, but that is quite expensive and people are also leaving BC in droves because of unaffordability and a weak economy.

This is Stantec related - but on business side of things.

Their stock is falling hard (losing 20% of its value) - what's happening!?

The size of towers seems to be a source of pride in lots of cities around the world and there are many lists that rank them, so it is not just a local phenomenon.

Of course, a buildings place in the rankings is not guaranteed or permanent. The Empire State building hasn't been the tallest for a long time, but it is still impressive and well known.

Likewise there are many great cities, particularly in Europe, that do not have a lot of tall towers and are fine or even better than many that do.
