I like the idea of keeping Stu and Picks, and replacing the goalie coach with Mike Smith.
I suspect they're looking for another position for Dustin Schwartz, likely as a goalie scout.

Aww geez! Don't wanna lose Gulutzy! Hated him when he coached the fLamers but love him as our Special teams coach.

It's official:
The #Oilers have signed forward Trent Frederic to an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $3.85 million.

^ Even with the cap rising significantly, that's a terrible deal in term and salary. Giving max contracts to depth players at 27 is just bad management.

Meh, it's the way things are going these days...could be worse - Hubey Dough is signed until he's 40. On another note, rumors that Bouche will be offer-sheeted and the Kane trade is all for not......

Agreed, but I'm not surprised... Bowman hasn't made a single good decision since he took over. How I miss Ken Holland....

You mean Jack Campbell $5M X 5 Holland? That one? lol. Surprisingly, Bowman has done very few deals, Skinner and Arvidsson were Jeff Jackson's - so. Frederic's deal is actually pretty decent - we can trade after year 4 - so that protects us.

A four-year NMC on that Frederic deal to boot. Good grief. One thing is clear, nobody is taking a discount to play with the two best players in the world with two straight kicks at the can for the Cup.

And to think Holloway was derided for signing an offer sheet at 2.29. Laugh, sigh, or cry...

I will never forgive management for letting Broberg and Holloway walk like that.

Or the Nurse deal or Zack Kassian. This man sold the future to win now 5 years ago Where did that get us ?

Ken Holland was mediocre - his decision to sign Jack Campbell was a disaster, and a significant factor in why the 97 era Oilers still seek their first Stanley Cup. Also, his handling of Broberg and Holloway, the top two young players on the Oilers, directly led to the Blues successful double offer sheets - the first in NHL history and also a factor for why the 97 era Oilers don't have a cup. These offer sheets were arguably the most embarrassing moment for the franchise and is something they will never live down - Jackson was also to blame for this and it raises concerns about how focused these very well paid executives were. If I were Katz I would be livid considering how much he pays his management team. Very sloppy work by Holland, who was the highest paid GM in the league when he worked for Katz. He also gave Detroit two 2nd round picks for a mediocre UFA and then couldn't get him extended - basically just threw away two 2nd round picks. I'm sure Bowman isn't Holland level mediocre but we will see - he definitely has his work cut out for him considering how all the awful managers that preceded him have created a very difficult situation that makes success in a highly competitive 32 team league tenuous at best.
