^^ A very serious band of extremely talented musicians... you ain't gonna hear lyrics like "Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow"

I think you and Mr. Upton are both (like most boomers) confused. The "booty like pow pow pow" stuff was all ca. 2009, and frankly I would still take that over Grand Funk Railroad or whatever you guys listen to. As I see it, stereotypical Gen Z music is like Boygenius, Mitski, and other music for sad queers.

^ I may be confused but I still find it funny... I haven't laughed so hard since:
"I'd like to thank the guy
Who wrote the song
That made my baby
Fall in love with me
… Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp
Who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong
Who put the bop in the bop shoo bop shoo bop
Who put the dip in the dip da dip da dip
Who was that man
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby fall in love with me (yeah)"

Thanks Barry Mann for lighting up many decades of fuzzy-butt music

Seriously, I am still stuck on the Beatles (especially John Lennon's pen), Rolling Stones (granted many album fillers among "the best of"), Bob Dylan, and Canada's own Leonard Cohen (particularly "the Future" album), Joni Mitchell, and Bruce Cockburn -- in total well over 1,000 songs that keep me mused.

*Edit -- I am also a huge fan of Poe's 1995 debut album "Hello" (hauntingly beautiful).

I'll grant that Joni's streak from Blue to Hejira was an astounding feat. In any case, I expect that when I'm 70, I'll be griping about how kids these days don't appreciate Cindy Lee or Adrianne Lenker.
