Yup! Now it's clear why there is a delay! Phase 1 site has moved to the SW corner rather than the NW/Middle spot by Arby's. I swear I looked at this 2 weeks ago and that's where "Phase 1" was at the time.

Hmm. Weird. Interested to see what comes forward for this. The 2 towers on empty land on the doorstep of the train seemed like a no brainer for starting with.

Well by having the building at this location they are still banking on plenty of transit usage but also that more of the residents will have to go right through the mall to get to and from home to the busses and LRT, hopefully increasing mall and business foot traffic.

The current home page (envisionmwtc.ca) shows phase 1 at the proposed location next to the LRT and professional centre though.
I think the page you linked (envisionmwtc.ca/home) is the archived version. The hyperlink description says "home (old oct 2023)".
It would be a bait and switch if they did go back to the SW corner, that is basically a reset.

I'm not involved in this project and don't know the various parties, but labelling the shifting plans a bait and switch is not necessarily fair. In very large redevelopment sites, and one with this particular site's current uses, I would not be surprised if phasing would be subject to change. They've got a lot of land to figure out, and this isn't an easy site to re-vision.

Drove by earlier and there's a big "Opening Soon" sign near the No-Frills entrance. Lots of yellow paint too.
The Phase 1 site is now a paid park-and-ride tho... Ugh.
