Any news on North Blatchford station opening or we just gonna let it decay?
ETS is doing something up there. ETS #2011 the catenary inspection vehicle was up there today, although it wasn't doing anything with the catenary that I could see. Both tracks were shiny too... Not rusted as one would expect to see if wheels haven't been running over them, so that means something had been on the SB track prior to today. Having said that, this is no indication the extension is opening anytime soon what so ever.

They do stage trains there from time to time, so the rails being shiny isn’t a huge deal. I was wondering about the catenary inspection vehicle though. I’ve seen it at NAIT/Blatchford Market station two times in the last week.

I have seen some 107 Street construction to the new overpass on Yellowhead. I imagine there won't be any action until the construction is complete.

Have you noticed any particular reason, when, or why they had LRV's staged there? Thanks for the intel in the 2011 being out there. I had a suspicion the day I saw it wasn't it's first time.

It seems to usually be in the evenings (at least when I see them) and maybe on nights when events are happening? There was a one-car train the other night between 118 and 119 Avenue. I asked the motorman what they were doing and they said they were going to be coupling to another train at some point. So I’m thinking if there’s going to be a large crowd letting out, they stage some capacity north of NAIT until they need them.

Ok, that makes sense. That almost sounds like they are doing a "bump down" to reduce train lengths when there's less riders after the PM peak. It could be to add cars too depending upon the circumstances.

Perhaps allow bikes on the LRT between 132 Avenue and Blatchford Gate Stations. An underground bike tunnel could attract vulnerable people who want to sleep there

The admin report found that the bridge would be cheaper than the tunnel. I'm sure when funding is secured they will reassess if that is still true. Especially since there is almost no chance of provincial or federal funding over the next few years, and the city's capital borrowing is maxed. This project is atleast a decade away.

"CN Walker Railyard / Yellowhead Trail Crossing Review
As part of the preliminary design process, Administration reviewed options for the CN
Walker Railyard / Yellowhead Trail crossing. Initial concepts reviewed in 2014 included
both tunnel and bridge options, and recommended the bridge. Based on review and
analysis, including public engagement, the bridge crossing is preferred. Any crossing
of this location will require approval of CN and further discussions are required.
The benefits of using a bridge instead of a tunnel are:
● Reduced cost (estimated savings of $50-$100M)
● Provides an active mode link for pedestrians and cyclists
● Mitigates geotechnical and environmental risks associated with tunnelling
beneath an active rail yard"

*Edited because the link didn't work

Hasn't the federal govt announced a multi billion fund over the next number of years for cities to apply?
