This is likely to allow the owner to apply for grants to help with the restoration of the facade. It does not mean the entire building will be preserved, could just be the facade as part of a new development. The building is concrete so may be harder to do that in this case.

What about just at least SOME thought lol. Would already be an improvement. I didn’t grab a photo because I just saw it from the uber on my way out of town, but here is a gorgeous new one in Toronto. These mid rises make for such a nicer neighbourhood feel. The super tall ones are impressive to see but just don’t make sense in so many ways. The google street view is a bit old so it’s still under construction, but finished, wow, it looks good.

Agree with the mid rise comment but Toronto can keep that piled up eye sore. Archited called it Trumpism and it's a fitting description. Trump plastered the walls of the Oval Office in 1980's fake gold medallions from Home Depot and that building is more pretentious glamour that will not pass the test of time.

Please don't be wooden 6 storeys, please don't be wooden 6 storeys, please don't be wooden 6 storeys....... Crap, 4 wooden 6 storeys......
I, for once, am happy with wooden 6 stories if they are well done, but with this number of units, we're probably looking at something slightly taller, unless they're only building studios.

Yup. Nothing wrong with 6 stories, it's a matter of the design. Big difference between a typical suburb build and a stuff like Stadium Yards or some of the great smaller stuff you see in other cities. Fingers crossed, I guess...

At this rate we have a very good chance of possibly almost having 2,000 units being constructed at the same time downtown. 696 units is a big number.

And yes I'll update the spreadsheet with DPs

I will be very curious to see where downtown population sits at by the end of the decade. On top of these we should still see the Stationlands second tower, Parks 2 and Falcon 2 (I don't remember how many units between them) and there are the 340 or so from the first couple of ICE District Phase two.

All of this is also before the Attainable Housing funding from the CRL.
