I’m indifferent to it. I always fly from YEG (the last thing I want to do after a long day of travel is drive 3 hours home or stay in a hotel), but if the flight times/airfare/connecting time through YYC are better than the other options I book it.
That's where I fall. I always try to fly from YEG first, but in the end it's about the best option, but I'm not going to fly through YYZ, ORD or some other place simply avoid YYC. I'll pay a little extra to fly from YEG if the schedule works better, but for me it's a combo of schedule and $$.

He's exaggerating, but not by much. In my experience the vast majority of Edmontonians don't seem to know or care about YEG's situation. Everyone I know takes the flight that works for them best, and for travel outside of Canada, it usually ends up being through Calgary.

Dude, that's the textbook example of being a martyr.
Most Edmontonians know, some do not care. I don't think he said it was difficult for him to do this or involved great sacrifice, so sticking to his principles - yes, but a good example of being a martyr - no, not really.

In life often the cheapest option is not always the best for various reasons and I don't feel people should be criticized for making principled choices on how to spend their money.

I wonder if the new AC 321XLR will finally be THE plane to help get AC to bring an international destination to YEG. Unlikely given their hub mentality, but it's probably our best chance.

Love the configuration and while a narrow sucks for anything over 4hrs, it is what it is.

I seem to recall musings that the XLR will supplement eastern Canada's access to smaller markets in Europe.

Our new connection
(If) traveling to Montreal 🇨🇦 just for a leisurely domestic / work trip Montreal Metropolitan Airport YHU is a good 👍 option for some Point to Point.

But for 1️⃣’s connecting in Montreal Internationally / US 🇺🇸 via Air Canada - YUL airport ✈️ is still best option 💯 %.

This is the last straw! This tips the pendulum in favor of any other airline out of YEG EVER! WJ is using “Toolshed” beer for upcoming flights? No thanks!

Are you saying this because you don't like Tool Shed or because Tool Shed isn't from Edmonton?
Air Canada and Porter's on-board alcohol also doesn't come from Edmonton...
