^For a city or metro of 1.7 million, Edmonton has very little hotel capacity downtown. Never mind that most of the stock is also pretty old and dated.

I don't think too much dt hotel space has been added in the past 25 years despite the city growing from 640,000 in 2000 to nearly double that now.
Lots of growth in accommodation in other areas though along outer edges.

There's a chain of hotels along Gateway Blvd and another chain of hotels along Stony Plain Rd west of 170 St.

- SE corner of 101 St/104 Ave
- 100 Ave/102 St
- 2 more near the convention centre
- 1 or 2 on the 104 St promenade
- Ice District phase 2
- another 1 on 105 St north of Jasper Ave
- 1 or 2 near O'day-min Park
- 1 or 2 near MacEwan
- at least 2 more near the Legislature grounds

There are more hotels in Sherwood Park/Yellowhead Trail. I think a hotel around 107 Street/102 Avenue might work, given the proximity to the LRT, MacEwan and Norquest.

I had used it a number of times and it didn't seem bad to me, it actually worked quite well. However I sense what is being proposed here may be a bit different, a larger bus with leaving from a central location with fewer stops.

You’d like 15 hotels to be built downtown? That seems like a recipe for an incredible over supply. 1-2 is all I can imagine the market bearing.

Depends on size and market positioning.
We could probably do with either a larger 4-5 star option, or two smaller ones (a Hyatt Regency and a Four Seasons wouldn't be bad) and maybe two larger or three smaller 2-3 stars (and ALT would be great here), between downtown and 124 Street, and maybe another couple of hotels around Whyte Ave.
Hotel occupancy rates in Edmonton are actually quite high, even at the more upscale hotels.

My apologies, I was just laying out some options on where some of these hotels can be located.
The first 3 or 4 options should be a given.
I'd also like to see a couple of hotel options on 124 St near Stony Plain Rd.

Porter starting flights
between Vancouver & Edmonton will make Air Canada, WestJet & Flair cut back on few weekly flights on this route & consolidate more between YEG & YVR
.On the Calgary- Vancouver - YYC , WestJet /AC & also Flair will match Porter additions / offerings on this route

for sure”, but at Edmonton YEG airlines cut back to consolidate more, year round.We seen this happen plenty of times already previous years & will continue to!
