Yeah, apparently its a thing these days. According to Google AI, Rage baiting is a manipulative online tactic used to provoke anger or outrage in order to increase engagement and attention.

I think somewhat similar to in the old days when someone said something to get a rise out of you, but I guess we have to have new terms for all online things.

To be fair, it is not hard to get enraged about airlines and IMO if it is true, then it really should not just be dismissed, which is also an odd thing people also do these days.

If you are a company that does business in various cities, you may want to consider the impressions your tweets give, pretty sure they have at least a few people at Westjet who do (or should) think about that.

It probably doesn't help matters when the target of said rage-baiting is a 54-year-old with the mental capacity and emotional maturity of a 13-year-old boy.

I definitely agree, however the average Westjet customer is not getting butthurt because the airline's CEO supports a different hockey team than them.....

And on a separate note it may not be fair to immediately get upset about the fact that they're in a box at the Saddledome. I think everyone can agree that when WS is not in the best financial state, spending that much on a company box is a terrible decision. However do we even know that this was a company box? Could it not have just been rented? Given the "Leeswood Construction" sign at the top I think this may be an indicator that they in fact do not own this box.
In which case I see even less issues with the LinkedIn post.

I do agree with some posters though - the purpose of this thread is to discuss the YEG Airport.
Any topics pertaining to the YYC Airport can be posted here:

Rage bait? Is that a term? I'm 54 yrs old and don't have Tiktok - must be a Gen Z thing? Bottom line - Alexi doesn't know a puck from a Cow pie - and they are owned by Onex in TO - who complain about losing money all the time and want to keep increasing their baggage fees - so yeah - a $2M box in the Saddledump is certainly sending mixed messages....
Actually he’s quite the Draisaitl fan and knows him. But we can maybe get back to our airport now.

Back at home with YEG we see another decent month in March. Transborder growth slowly declining but not catastrophically and we have new transborder routes coming online in May (IAH, SLC, ORD on UA) and June (ORD on WS) that could stabilize what is sure to be a difficult summer on that segment of the passenger market.

March 2025

Terminal

  • Terminal Traffic: 575,355 passengers (Year-to-day 1,650,377 passengers) 6.6% (Year-to-day 7.1%)
  • Domestic 410,041 passengers (Year-to-day 1,180,535 passengers) 7.6% (Year-to-day 7.5%)
  • Transborder 87,550 passengers (Year-to-day 238,932 passengers) 4.1% (Year-to-day 9.6%)
  • International 77,764 passengers (Year-to-day 230,924 passengers) 4.5% (Year-to-day 2.7%)

Fixed Base Operators (FBO)

I was surprised to see a 787 landing at YEG last evening, while driving home from the mountains. It was AC171 from YYZ and it looks like there are a few more wide bodies on the route in the coming future. Hopefully these were full and gets Air Canada's attention for improved connectivity abroad.
