Ricki's seems to have closed on the 1st floor, so that breaks the streak we have of constant new openings in the mall.
Although Ricki’s is closing in Sherwood park too, maybe it is more of a whole business decision?Ricki's seems to have closed on the 1st floor, so that breaks the streak we have of constant new openings in the mall.
REVOLVER in Westmount Mall is now closed with signage saying they are relocating to "City Centre" (presumably ECC!) with an April 21st opening date. I am going to be sad to lose them in the neighborhood but that's a really nice pickup for ECC. I wonder which space they'll be occupying?
Oh that’s a pretty good pickup! Just searched it up and it said that they’re going to be on the main level up from Winners.REVOLVER in Westmount Mall is now closed with signage saying they are relocating to "City Centre" (presumably ECC!) with an April 21st opening date. That would make good sense, this space is close the Winners and around the right size. It would be really nice to fill this core spot. One Reddit comment I found (posted a few days ago) says they're moving into the former Coles space. I guess we'll see.
The City could sell its interest, in the interest of getting the best possible complete redevelopment of the overall site. Demolish that Triple 5 eyesore please!West parkade is owned by the City.
Although one has to wonder if the city’s actual net income is really that much greater than what would they would get “risk-free” from property taxes over and above what they would receive from a sale. While the parkade is not great looking, I am guessing it is a money maker at this point for them.
