Nice little synopsis of our fine city! Not sure if National Geographic did one of every other Canadian city or not….

That write-up as Tony the Tiger would say is GR-R-R-EAT! (Some Edmontonians on here would strongly object to the story because they don't see any of that (their loss!) as they pine for the soggy West Coast or the Winter bite/Summer sweat of more eastern climes).

There’s a bit of winter bite here as well. This was all in the last 24 hours.

Ken, you are looking at this all wrong. This stuff is the very best material for sno-balls, sno-forts, and -- if you are very careful to avoid the yellow stuff that is more prevalent in dog runs -- icee treats (gather it up and pour chilled maple syrup over it for an exceptional albeit diabetic treat). We just had a snow storm here last week (only lasted a couple of days but it street-washed and refreshed the entire neighborhood) so I get the sense of "where's summer?"
Edit: You should have put this pic on "Photo of the Day"

I like it, because it did not seem to just focus on cold and winter which seems to be the stereotypical unimaginative approach some (including people who live here and should know better) sometimes taken.

We do have four seasons here, although sometimes we do get them all within a day or week. I also really like the Gateway to the North phrase it is a more accurate portrayal of what we are and I wish we would use it more.

You’ve been away too long… :)

It’s much too dry and powdery to make decent snowballs or forts. :(

There was a time yesterday, when I think you could have made snow balls, but it seems like that window of opportunity has closed now even though the snow continues.

Not sure where to post this, but there's some discussion of a new city to be turbocharged by billions in infrastructure investment to become Canada's next superstar city. London and Kingston were mentioned as possible release valve cities but feel like Edmonton can and should be that choice.
