It seems that the city just cancels on this projects if they remove a lane of traffic, but the laws is that they can seek provincial approvals for it. Has the city ever asked the province for approval for a project that removes a lane of traffic, I am thinking about this project and the one on Parkside Dr. If the province rejects the city at least they would have to explain why

To the best of my knowledge, the answer is 'no'

I also don't agree w/that.

I think the City is being too timid.

Bill 60 outright bans cities from converting motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose). However, the City had the ability to install them at the time Eglinton was being resurfaced last fall since Bills 212/60 exempted projects underway, but they chose not to.

For some reason they’ve completed construction on Scott and The Esplanade, and repainted the lanes in a way that encourages drivers to drive east down the bike lane. It’s causing major confusion at Yonge and The Esplanade.

Happy Bike Month! Earlier today, I got to check out the new bikeways on Portland and Blue Jays Way. I covered these findings on my blog, as well as mentioned a bunch of bike related events that are happening this week. Will include a few photos below.
