It's been a cool spring, and the construction notice says something about installation starting when temperatures are consistently above 10C. Could that be it?
There is also a prohibition on street construction in the downtown area from now until after FIFA so if it has not started yet I doubt it will start before August.

Yes, that is what I am afraid of. It has been over two years in the making. Very disappointing.

Who to email about this best?

I’m wondering what is happening with the implementation of the very long awaited cycle tracks on Portland st. Work should have started weeks ago, but nothing.

Obviously, I reached out to Michael Carroll, Public Consultation Coordinator, but he did not provide any construction dates.

Does anyone has more information? To who else can I reach out to ensure this gets built asap?
Work is in progress.

They've been installing new traffic signals for the last couple months and there was a major closure at Richmond a couple weekends ago where they dug up a good portion of the intersection. Don't know exactly what they were doing, but I'm assuming it was preliminary work before reconstructing the roadway.

I was at Yonge and The Esplanade and many cars were confused by the curb without the paint. Saw 2 cars turn into the future 2-way cycle track in the couple minutes I was standing there. And 1 waited to turn left on the incoming lane.

I live in this area and have been watching this since it was installed. I can't see if this is the case in your picture, but there are a lot of (construction?) vehicles parked on the north side during the day. When cars are approaching Yonge westbound get to the intersection, they're almost forced into the eastbound lane because of the construction vehicles (there usually is space for one car to move back to its lane, but most cars don't seem to realize it's a separate lane).

I assume when these parked cars are gone, it will get marginally better, but it does seem like they need some signage to stop cars from going into the bike lane.

Yesterday I saw two cars using bike lane (eastbound) to reach the Parking Garage entrance. They knew it was wrong so signage would not have helped.

I disagree, if any reasonable person saw an area to drive in that is not demarcated, has no bike lane signs, flexi-post barriers or markings that say it is a bike lane, they would think it is a road median. If you gave anyone that picture above without context, they would say that’s a roadway median. Give it actual indication its a bike lane and people will learn.

I just went to look at Rosedale Valley Road in the hope the bike trail might have been upgraded. Despite the TOInView saying:

It has had no work done and no signs (painted marks etc) of any coming up either. Anyone have insights on when they will do this??

The City website says:

The Rosedale Valley Road Multi-Use Trail has been selected as part of the City’s Transportation Capital Program, State of Good Repair (SOGR) to extend the useful life and improve the user experience by repairing, resurfacing, and upgrading the trail. It is one of a number of trail projects in the City’s Cycling Network Plan that will to help make green spaces more accessible.

The existing trail extends from Bayview Avenue to Park Road, and connects St. James Cemetery, Wellesley Park, Toronto Necropolis Park, Rekai Family Parkette, and Lawren Harris Park. Some of the existing issues on the trail include: limited and inaccessible access, drainage issues and poor lighting and pavement conditions.

The City has partnered with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) to complete the trail redesign. Tender for construction is anticipated in 2025, and construction is expected to begin in 2026.

Please see the conceptual design map. (opens in new window)

I stood there for 15 mins or so and while a couple drivers started to turn into the bike lane, they saw the pylons and corrected every time.
It seems a bit wide for a bike lane; is it meant to be bi-directional.

I don't like this type of layout; I've made that mistake before driving somewhere strange I'd never been before (Vancouver). It's not particularly intuitive.

In that case, I still don't understand the signage and paint, years later. While it's clear you are crossing a bike lane and a pedestrian crossing. There's no paint on the bike lane you may accidently turn into. And no signage warning this can happen. And nothing that would preculde them for having put narrower lanes on both sides of the (one-way) street.

This construction from Eglinton E to Don West Trail has been stopping and ongoing for years now. The trail North of here under Eglinton to Moriyama Dr / Wynford Dr. is open but who knows how long this will take. Almost seems like exercise in barrier rental.
Who is this project of? City of Toronto or TRCA or someone else? Nothing is posted on the S side of this, just don't enter signs.
