Those two look more like my kind of place than the cozier ones. How was the coffee at Highly Likely?
How? Large expanses of glass and grey, (ugh) hard surfaces? Don't get me wrong, both of those cafes have a certain cool look to them and I do like them, but they got nothing on cozy ones that practically envelope you like a fleece throw. There's no desire to want to linger in these.

The coffee in Highly Likely was very good. They even give you a choice as to which beans they should use, which is welcome as not many places offer that. I just go with whatever they recommend as I'm not enough of a connoisseur to know the difference 😄

My main criteria for a place to sit and drink coffee (at least if I'm on my own) is a counter where you can sit directly looking out onto a busy sidewalk. Second best is a table by a window. I love sitting in the sun, so the more windows the better.

Not cozy but homey and plain with AMAZING baked goods on Dundas West! #kaffeundkuchen

Yes, they just opened recently but I fear they won't be around long. I pass by nearly twice a day and have never seen a single person inside. It also doesn't help that for a few days they already had a yellow DineSafe notice in the window a couple of weeks after opening.

I stopped in briefly a while ago as I was excited to finally see a German inspired business open downtown...but...I felt underwhelmed. A proper German bakery should be open at 6 am, practically bursting with fresh bread and other baked goods (think of the famous Dimpflmeier in Etobicoke), but the offerings in this place are very spartan and the hours are surprisingly casual. Do they even make their own stuff?? It was hard to tell as it didn't have that signature smell. Also, minus points for the hip hop music that was playing when I was there - that just doesn't create the appropriate vibe at all.

This place will be gone before Christmas.
