Looking at the Capital Projects Explorer, repairs were made to the seating area recently and it sounds like they will be going ahead with other lifecycle repairs. The Design Development Phase for Commonwealth Stadium Rehabilitation is due to be complete by the end of Q1 2025. Also, pending funding, the turf at Commonwealth Stadium and Field House is due to be replaced in the Fall.

While I believe it to have much false information and to be over dramatized, here is a video on potential Commonwealth Stadium renovations. Take it for what it is.

Well I remember these plans from a little while ago, but I don't remember hearing or seeing in this video, what roof structure he was talking about. Definitely, Commonwealth needs to be renovated and I am definitely not a supporter of a new stadium in the downtown core.

For 9 football games a year in a deteriorating league and a handful of concerts doesn't seem a good use of public money. If we had unlimited funds sure, but the city is not in that position, or even in a position to issue debt.

The out-the-box posters on this forum could propose ideas and ideas, to be discussed, debated contributing to a new vision for Commonwealth. Perhaps a New thread Visioning for Commonwealth Stadium and surrounding area.

^ deteriorating league? What are you talking about?
Viewership from 2019 to 2024 has declined from 559k per game to 454k. Attendance per game has slightly improved over past couple years, yet is still significantly lower than crowds going back to 2000.

It's a fun little league, but with all the entertainment options out there, it's going to struggle to replace the aging fan with a younger generation.

Yes, there are a few places in Canada like Toronto where there are a lot of other sports options, but even Vancouver could not keep a NBA team.

For several CFL cities, this is their main or only pro sports team and for several others, NHL hockey does not go beyond June.
