Here's another look at a CL-415 at this this Canadian International Airshow.
So I was poking around looking for some files for work and came across these photos I took during my ramp days from 1991-1994. These are just some dirty scans from what I think were K64 35mm slides. Seems to be an odd collection so I don't know why these got the scan treatment. Anyway, some of you might enjoy them.

This was the first visit of this aircraft after it came out of desert storage. If I remember correctly, Boeing delivered it in 1991 and AC sent it straight to the desert for a year or two.

Anybody remember when Singapore had their short lived (maybe 2-3 times a week) service via Europe?

Air China used to run their 747sp here via Vancouver in the mid to late 80s but I think this was actually a JFK snowstorm diversion.

This was definitely a snowstorm diversion from the night before.

I'm not sure when this was taken but I think it was a regular during that time period of early 1990s

I had forgotten Korean ran MD11s here. It was snowing pretty hard, unfortunately.
***edited to add that this was also one of the first MD11s. After it left the Korean Air fleet, it ended life as a freighter in Shanghai in 2009 operating the first flight for a Zimbabwean cargo outfit and overran the runway because the crew failed to engage the throttles properly. Killed 3 of four onboard.

Back when US carriers ran heavies into YYZ. AA181 to ORD-LAX. I used to frequently start my shift with this flight. This is early spring 1991 or 1992 as there is still structural steel going up on the T3 satellite terminal.
***Edited to add that this was N101AA - The first DC-10 produced.***

AA 727 shorty arriving at B11. Loved this livery especially on a brand new MD-80 or 757 as it approached the gate in the late afternoon sun. The shine was unreal!

To illustrate the point, this was a brand new 757 delivered the day before back in 1992 I think at the Alliance Fort worth airport and displayed during the air show there.

Brand new CAIL A320

AR 747 at gate 41. Wednesdays and Sundays if I recall via JFK. They eventually switched to an A310 and then contracted with AV Atlantic for 727s via Miami
Fantastic shots! Here's another look at a CL-415 at this this Canadian International Airshow.

Glad you were able to get out. Who handles AA now?Very nice photos. I left the airport for the last time two years ago. I did ramp ops for American Airlines and enjoyed it a lot, but I was destined for better things.
I have a photo of the AN225 lying around when it came here in 2013/2014, I'll have to dig it up and share with the enthusiasts here, but all of your photos are great!
Haha, same to you. AA has always been mainline if I remember. Swissport will handle tows to IFT if we have an overnighter we can't park at the gate, and PrimeFlight does the cabin grooming. Everything else is done by AA mainline.Glad you were able to get out. Who handles AA now?
Your antonov comment reminded me of the fact that I worked the very first Antonov 124 arrival into YYZ. It loaded up three firefighting helicopters that were going to Greece in the summer of I want to say 1992 or 1993. I took photos and now I'm going to have spent the rest of the night looking for the prints!
I did shoot the An-225 when it was here for the pandemic. That photo was posted in my photo thread. Shame it got destroyed.
I can't imagine the AN124 stuck here for almost three years will fly out. I know some of the Russian stuff was built tough but that thing wasn't prepared for storage and and has been sitting out in the elements for almost three years. It's not airworthy and would likely require a ton of money to even attempt making it airworthy. If it was located over in any of the former Soviet republics, sure - they would just give'er - and see what happens. Over here, stuck in Canada's most populous city, would you want to be the Transport Canada guy that rolls the dice and gives this thing a ferry permit?Haha, same to you. AA has always been mainline if I remember. Swissport will handle tows to IFT if we have an overnighter we can't park at the gate, and PrimeFlight does the cabin grooming. Everything else is done by AA mainline.
That AN124 arrival was definitely way before I was born. It's amazing how much they can fit, let me know what you find!
It is indeed a shame that the AN225 was destroyed. I keep hearing about plans to rebuild, and I genuinely hope they do.
I'm really curious about the AN124 that's essentially sunk into the h pad though. I know why its there, but what I don't know is what they plan on doing with it. I remember seeing GreeceAir or whatever it was called being parked at the chartered flight area for over a year before it was eventually moved but the AN124 takes the cake for longest parked aircraft.
Great shots Tim. Any idea who the helicopter operator was?I found the prints and scanned them. UR-82008 visited YYZ August 27th/28th 1993. Ferried in and took the choppers out to Greece.

Canadian Helicopters was the operator. S-61s if I recall. I was astonished they stuffed all three in there.Great shots Tim. Any idea who the helicopter operator was?
I wish I was old enough to think of taking more photos in the early 90s to catch the tail end of that golden era. The last regular classic was the Cargojet 727 that was retired I want to say 2017 or so.I love that last shot. Reminds me of seeing the old DC8s and 707s coaling out.
And has to pay costs to the Government of Quebec and the repair companyGuy who flew the Mini3pro that the CL215 struck has pled guilty in court
