Are there any plans to connect the uplands/keswick in the future? Or will all traffic west/east of the river need to use the henday for all movements between? I could see that becoming a future bottleneck once all those communities are built out. Everything funneling up terwillegar to the henday is part of the challenge currently.

I don't see plans in any of the Southwest, Rabbit Hill or West Henday District Plans & ARPs in the area for bridge crossings there. Realistically, the only 2 that might work are 41 Ave and 28 Ave. Ellerselie & Windermere both run into established development, golf courses, and the potential Big Island Provincial Park if that ever goes through.

Point in question here is the fact that the sheer amount of money being spent on road expansion is not necessarily bringing in a net positive, and if we can't debate that here, where are we going to do it?
Also, no one is opposed to debate on any other thread, just factless and baseless rhetoric.
Fair enough, but let’s not pretend the rabbit hill/ellerslie road intersection isn’t just woefully inadequate for example. It serves our city no purpose to be that poorly planned and executed for places like that. I think we can do better in a multitude of ways.

Don’t quote me on this, but I recall reading in an ASP or transportation planning document that 41 Ave SW is envisioned to have a river crossing at some point in the distant future.

That would take you right into acreage development.
Every crossing from Ellerslie Rd going south on the west side of the river will be acreage country for at least another two+ decades.

I do wonder what the plans are. If the crossing was at 28 ave SW, it's a wider river crossing but the land on the west side of the river is still City of Edmonton, and Rabbit Hill road feeding 28 ave makes it a more natural arterial. There is also a lot less developed residential/acreage lots on the west side of the river.

41 ave SW is a shorter crossing, but the west side of the river is also fully Parkland County (likely less cost fully on the City that way). Looks like there's a preserved ROW to connect to HWY 60 but there is still a fair amount of acreage subdivisions right adjacent that I'm sure won't be happy.

Overall though not really sure what the benefit is to Edmonton for having a bridge down there. Feels like it'd be more utilized by those in Parkland County acreage subdivisions or Devon to short cut into the Edmonton, rather than it help alleviate vehicle traffic on the Henday for residents in the SW. I guess maybe if you live in Chappelle and commute to Acheson it might help you.
