Sorry to ask what is probably a dumb question here -- but what do 42s and 28s mean here?

No worries.........there's lots of shorthand and acronyms on here, and it takes awhile to figure them all out.

s following a number, particularly in a thread title generally is short for storeys or floors.

similarly m in the same context is generally height in meters.

m2 floor plate size for a building. (the physical area of a floor, typically referring to those floors within a tower section as opposed to the base building (lowest floors).

Other acronyms you may find useful.

The various community councils for the City often get shortened.

Etobicoke York to EYCC
North York to NYCC
Scarborough to SCC
And Toronto East York to TEYCC

When a developer appeals a city decision (or non-decision) that generally goes to the Ontario Land Tribunal or OLT

OPA is short for Official Plan Amendment
ZBA for Zoning By-Law Amendment
SPA for Site Plan Approval.

it is wild. I said 35 earlier but it's actually about 40 apartments. I can't imagine a developer starting a project that would tear down 40 single family homes in this area. But somehow so easy to discuss demolishing 40 apartments...
I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your clearly very cherished apartment building and home.
It will be a requirement that all of the rental apartments are replaced within the new building (I would assume a skyscraper will be built at this location) and it will also be a requirement that all tenants get a Right Of First Refusal on the new units.
I would suggest you organize the tenants, not to try and save building (that would be fruitless), but to ensure all of you get the best deal from the developer.
If you negotiate together you can ensure you all get more money from the developer and get more equal settlements than if you were to negotiate individually.
Things you could ask for: several months of rent and moving expenses, for the developer to pay all or a portion of your rent while you are displaced and the new building is under construction, etc.
I would contact the LTB to get a free lawyer or one of the housing advocacy groups in the city like ACORN Canada.
I don't think this forum will be a good place for you to participate in discussions, there will be members thirsting for the demolition of your apartment which may cause you distress.

Wishing you a calm head and good luck in what will be a stressful process for you.

I've been trying to find the minutes from the meeting with Councillor Saxe but can't find those on the city council site. Do you know if those are available?

Hi! Just checking to see if anyone here has heard anything more about this development. Still not seeing anything submitted on the city's permit website...

No news as such. The process continues. The application has not yet been filed. Don't know when that will be. You can be sure, when something is public, it will be posted here!

Ok..... here we go:
