NOW the city is hiring garbage pickers? I am seriously considering Quitting my job so I can pick up garbage along the Yellowhead especially between 50-66th streets where it is in 3rd world condition

The whole city is in a third world condition. Every single roadside looks like a garbage truck ran by with an open roof. It's the least attractive time of year for any newcomers to see. 🤢

One of the busiest shared-use paths, Saskatchewan Drive in Belgravia, is still a gravelly mess. I assume that the sweeping schedule must align with the neighbourhood sweeping schedules.

Again, no consideration given to the fact that this amount of gravel is much more disruptive to cyclists/pedestrians than it is to motor vehicles on roads.

Huge issue around the entire city. Agreed, pathways need clearing way faster, but should also be much quicker and easier to do versus the number of kms an average neighbourhood has.

Has anyone seen a city person/crew pick up a single piece of garbage anywhere? I have only seen private crews pick up here and there but nothing along any major roadway or lrt line. Is the city waiting until AFTER the long weekend to save on wages? Or are they waiting till it's time to cut grass and simply MOW over any garbage?
