Do we not have one of these for DT sidewalks? So the expectation of store owners cleaning their walks can be squashed?

My area's sweeping is marked as done, but lots of city-maintained winter sidewalk portions in the area still look like this. When will it be swept? Or will they even bother? Who knows, because the city doesn't put any info on their website about sidewalk/SUP sweeping.

My neighborhood was done yesterday, But that was St Al. Had enough notice that most neighbors had their front yards cleaned up and boulevards swept before they cam through.

St.Albert, S.Park and Beaumont all get their streets done early and well……I guess cause we do have to worry about freeways, industrial and misc areas….

Made a 311 request for this, only for it to be swiftly closed with “ no action required”. Le sigh.

I was on the U of A campus today, and it doesn't look like they've done any sweeping yet. It's almost just as hazardous walking through half an inch of gravel in some spots as the ice would have been.

Garneau area is done but the actual U of A Campus is done by the University….not the city

I reported my issue with a closed with no action required ticket and got a response that basically doubled down. I'm starting to wonder if we should all start reporting these and/or writing Council. I sincerely fail to see the point of a "service" like 311 that's the bureaucratic version of a pedestrian beg button: the light will change when it changes, or not, and in the meantime, here's a useless button to make you feel like you're doing something.

Years ago, I reported some pavement heaving in my neighbourhood, which looked like a sinkhole forming, and of course, closed swiftly with "No action required". Sure enough, a few days later, it had turned into an open sinkhole at least a metre deep. At least they swiftly sent out a crew when I phoned it in again, but in the meantime, what if someone parked there or got injured falling in?

Lol, and another one of my recent tickets reporting broken glass on an MUP got closed quickly with "Work to be completed as per online schedule". Surely someone in admin realizes how dangerous something like that can be for people on bikes? Or maybe they're trying to purposefully dissuade anyone from making reports because they are the smartest people in the room.

I'm almost certain the 311 employees are told to do that to improve their metrics about bylaw report response times.

Yes, I feel our councillors are often blissfully unaware, intentionally or unintentionally, of the disinterest or disregard of some city staff for dealing with real problems.

NOW the city is hiring garbage pickers? I am seriously considering Quitting my job so I can pick up garbage along the Yellowhead especially between 50-66th streets where it is in 3rd world condition
