One concern with using election or polling information as a source of 'mineable' data for parties, agencies and companies is it might deter some people from exercising their right to vote.
When it comes to transparency, you win some, and you lose some. And unless one is the sole or near-sole person who voted at a polling station, it has no bearing on the individual. So some people might not vote? Hey, it's like how some people opt to be blurred by way of Google Streetview; it's their prerogative.

It's like saying that a concern with a "journey" over a "destination" focus is that destinations actively solicit visitors while the stuff one sees en route doesn't; hence the "journey" way is an invasion of privacy, even if what we're witnessing is from the safety of a public roadway or sidewalk...

Reads like the Conservatives are out of ideas and out of people who want to stick their necks out.

He is gross. Did you see the ad he did, white guy ranting in a bar?
...Scheer reminds of what happens to a beer bonging frat boy when they get a well heeled career. It sorta never leaves them. /sigh

The Quebec riding of Terrebonne has flipped to the Liberal candidate in a judicial recount this evening by a margin of... get this... just one vote over the Bloc Quebecois incumbent. This gives the Liberals 170 seats, just 2 shy of a majority government. Three more juidical recounts are outstanding in the ridings of Windsor-Tecumseh, Milton-East Halton Hills, and Nunavat. In the premlinary recount, Milton East Halton Hills did flop to the Liberal candidate but that has to be upheld by the judicial recount in order for that to hold.

I’ve been on vacation and haven’t been checking in here for the past month. Hope everyone had a good election and success in voting.

If the Liberals were to land on 172 they would have to sacrifice one for speaker, no?

Either way, having an exact majority would be nice but almost inconceivable in practice given that every member would need to be present for every vote. They still need the soft support of a minority party regardless.

They won't...because the 2 out of those seats being recalled are already Liberal, making it impossible to reach 172 if the LPC wins the one seat back. And presuming they don't lose those already 2 seats in the recount.

...but I can agree, it wouldn't take much for them to get their majority if two or three members of the opposition parties crosses the floor.

Anyhoose, here's the source on that:

Too bad that one voter didn't bring the Liberals to a majority. Now THAT would be a great Canadian political story, so crazy you couldn't make it up.
