It is..........

Though there is a genuine underlying issue at play...........many couples are delaying starting a family, or enlarging one because they simply can't afford it.

The thing is the way in which he raises the issue..........making it a 'women's thing' instead of a people/couples thing........... and the vibe is just...........its worded in a non-serious way.

I don't trust this guy with affordable housing!!! If he even does build housing he will use the cheapest non union tradesmen! Carney is a Red Tory.

The country needs a Red Tory. Year it’s a binary choice, and what’s the alternative on housing?

Yeah, shades of "childless cat ladies".

I don't believe we will get social housing under Carney, he's saying it for votes. Carney rubs me the wrong way, but he is the lesser of two evils. We really don't have much choice this election. If we had a President Kamala Harris, Canada's election would be a lot different. This election all the important Canadian issues have taken a back seat. It's is all about who is best suited to deal with Donald Trump! It's awful.
I'd say the challenge of Donald Trump presents a pretty important Canadian issue.

And? If we see housing as public problem number 1 on the social policy side, and that we are having issues with cost - be it material and labour - then tackling the latter a must, especially in the context of tradespeople shortage. If anything, there should be a carve out the social and non-profit housing projects should have the exclusive right to use alternative labour sources.

And Project 2025 (Maple MAGA version perhaps?) Source: The Atlantic (paywall) https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/04/project-2025-top-goal/682142
A focus on heterosexual, married, procreating couples is everywhere in Project 2025. “Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society,” writes Roger Severino, the author of a chapter on the Department of Health and Human Services and a former HHS and Justice Department staffer.

Convince me why any federal party should be talking about building houses. Housing is not a federal issue. Creating favourable economic conditions to enable the market to build affordable shelter is the federal role.

Who's responsibility should it be then? We know the provinces have all but abdicated all their responsibilities to blame the feds. We know the private sector has no interest in making things more affordable. Who's left?

This should be a scandal for the CPC. PP's spokesperson publicly tweeting that this journalist is a misinformation peddler without offering any evidence to substantiate that claim just to get a rise out of the right wing troll base is suppression of freedom of speech. And just why did they immediately act to get this shut down if they have a clear conscience? Only someone guilty reacts like that because they have something to hide. Where there's smoke, there's fire. Outrageous behaviour.

And shame on CTV for being gutless cowards. Freedom of the press should be sacred to them and yet they buckle at the first hint of pressure? Pathetic. The producer of that morning show needs to be fired immediately.

Gee, wonder how that happened.

Anyway, if you check the regionals from Nanos and many of the other polls coming out this week, the situation is reaching apocalyptic for Poilievre. If Ontario reaches >50% for LPC, we are talking Chretien level sweep.
