CBC in on it now
More than half a dozen Conservatives, who spoke to CBC News on the condition they not be named for fear of retribution, describe a campaign that is "highly disorganized" and "a mess." The sources include individuals both inside and outside the campaign.
Several of the sources allege that too many decisions have to go through Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre's chief strategist, Jenni Byrne.

"Jenni's in charge and that's all you know," said one Conservative campaign worker, who described the situation as dysfunctional.
There's no evidence of a master plan, said the Conservative, and people are left to figure things out themselves.

Sources said some people learned what they'd be doing on the campaign just hours before the race officially began — even though the Conservatives have been calling for an election since 2024.

Geez, when Ms Byrne is someone who wore this:

Are you surprised they have a credibility problem vis-a-vis Trump?

Jamil Jivani who is a member of parliament for the riding of Bowmanville and Northern Oshawa is a long time friend of J.D. Vance. They went to Yale together and Jamil was the best man at J.D.'s wedding. Jamil also went to D.C. earlier this year to attend Trump's inauguration.

I wonder if any of the drama has to do with the fact that Pierre Poilievre and Jenni Byrne used to be in a romantic relationship.

Sounds to me like the CPC's master plan all along was just relying on Trudeau voter fatigue and his personal popularity tanking. They didn't anticipate that he'd actually resign and leave them with nothing 😂

They underestimated the impact of Trump - blinded by their own ideological inclinations and misjudged a strong dislike of Trudeau as support for their agenda.

I think to a degree we all did. Being a politician, we didn't suspect that he was going to do all the crazy stuff he said he was going to do because we've been conditioned to think politicians just say a lot of stuff.

I am sure we all did - but the problem with PP's braintrust is that they bought into the MAGA thing, making it difficult to pivot in a believable way. Most "normal" Canadians took offence and reacted very strongly to the 51st state talk immediately - it took PP's campaign ages to eek out an uncategorical response. I am sure they also have to deal with their hard-right flank in the West (let's face it, they simply aren't the PCs of the old).

I think they misread the country as hating Trudeau, when I think it was rather that they were tired of Trudeau. Their base hate Trudeau in their bones, but most people just wanted a change at the top. They thought PP could coast to victory on a wave of Trudeau hatred, and to be fair, their support is holding up. Carney is riding on the collapse of the NDP vote.

Poilievre pitching tax writeoffs for people in trades travelling to work

https://www.ctvnews.ca/federal-elec...offs-for-people-in-trades-travelling-to-work/

It's like the Poilievre camp put together a campaign plan a year ago and are determined to run it one way or another. Can't believe they're announcing tax write offs for tradespeople and TFSA top-ups as signature policy announcements in the current environment during campaign stops. These are worthy of twitter announcements at most.

The Conservatives really changed their tone after they ousted Erin O'Toole and replaced him with Poilievre.
Both Poilievre and his main advisor Jenni Byrne were members of the Reform Party as teenagers. Might explain things.

That certainly explains a lot of his problematic takes during his stint as newstalk 1010 host...
This profile of Byrne is...something. She comes across as not being very ideological, and only motivated by a hatred of Liberals.
