Trying to capitalize on TD Coliseum event parking!? Probably charge some insane rate too! I'll be sure to walk around there when an event is on and take pics.
I get you haven't heard it quack just yet, but it's walking an awful lot like a duck right now...If I see a single car parked on the lot that was previously a building I will be immediately contacting the ward 2 office and the city. I will reserve that until I actually see it occurring, but if anyone has a photo of the property being used as parking, please immediately report or send the photo to me and I can do it if you'd rather not.
If this was the case, they could have just left it graded over. What they're doing here looks much more permanent and for the ages.Trying to capitalize on TD Coliseum event parking!? Probably charge some insane rate too! I'll be sure to walk around there when an event is on and take pics.
My thoughts exactly. I had to go through site plan approval for a surface lot of a similar size (also in a downtown, regrettably), and our cost estimates were near $350K just to pave and stripe it, with some additional minor landscaping and lighting. Even if they were able to do this for $150K (really not unrealistic given how basic it is, plus maybe the contractor is a friend), I don't see event parking for several events for a year or two being lucrative enough to justify that cost, especially when it's so clearly an obtuse cut-and-dried violation of a by-law.If this was the case, they could have just left it graded over. Or better yet, a summer beer tentLooks like a great place for an encampment.

Hopefully massively POed.How mad will Vrancor be when they are forced to encircle the old building footprint with concrete blocks.
