    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Would it help if you let CN use the line at a steep discount whenever it was not in use by a passenger train? Then that portion of their transcontinental route would effectively be double track most of the time. If CN is running 8 trains each way every day, they could probably use such a route...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Much of the last few pages of discussion have been about what improvements CN might demand to allow additional frequencies. So if CN were to demand, say, 8 km of new sidings, and a grade separation, that would equally be for the same few trains a day. The question I posed is, would the province...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

A good chunk of that old route though seems to be forest and bog. It might not be that costly to acquire. I measure the section from Atherley to Brechin at 17 km (15 km if you cut the corner a bit on the Brechin end). Of that 15 km, from looking at a satellite image, I'd say only 4 km or so is...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

This may be out on a limb, but does the purchase of track north of Washago make it worthwhile to consider rebuilding the old route between Washago and Brechin via Longford Mills and Atherley? Perhaps it would it be cheaper than paying CN to install multiple sidings with grade separations. (I...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Metrolinx says it is setting up a "laydown site" for storing materials where the Richmond Hill line crosses York Mills Road. The notice is labelled under the GO expansion header. I think there is a layover facility planned here? It sounds like construction is starting. From the notice:

Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

The rail path was mentioned in a Metrolinx construction notice. There have been some notices for individual pieces of work recently, but this notice seems to be looking at the area as a whole, with the rail path in mind.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I would note that Niagara Region believes Metrolinx could immediately increase Niagara service to 9 round trips daily, up from the current 3 round trips, if the province bought the track from CN. This is according to a staff presentation made to Niagara Regional Council last year (Here is the...

    Prefabricated and modular buildings

I'm not sure, but I get the impression that each box is limited by what can fit on a flat bed truck. Stelumar has previously said that most of their apartments and condos will be 2 or 3 bedrooms, with most composed of about 3 modular components. They also said that they were looking at more than...

    Prefabricated and modular buildings

I thought I would post this here as well. The credit goes to @KAR246 for digging up the details.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Metrolinx says it will be working on the King Street bridge on the Barrie and Kitchener lines next month as part of the work to add tracks. There is also more work scheduled around the new Woodbine and St. Clair stations.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The FIFA transportation plan is out now. The first 43 pages seem to be just a summary of Toronto's transit system. As for the rest, parking restrictions on Dundas and King are planned on match days, as well as more frequent transit.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Metrolinx is upgrading the at-grade crossings on the Stouffville line with pedestrian safety improvements, including some pedestrian crossing gates. The notice singles out 16th Avenue, but I believe there are several others as part of this program.

    Toronto Toronto | 3239 Dundas West | 43.5m | 11s | Gairloch | Batay-Csorba

If I were you (or Gairloch), the property I'd really want to add would be 281 Gilmour. Then maybe you could move the entrance to the parking garage to Gilmour, and add additional retail or residential units along Dundas. The apartment building on the corner already has a parking garage entrance...

    Mississauga Toronto | Twin Pines Redevelopment | ?m | 12s | Peel Housing Corporation | Axia

There is movement on this development. Media coverage this week says the residents of the 130 trailer park homes are being told they have to move. Residents will reportedly receive either a one-time $50,000 payment, or an on-going rent subsidy, as relocation assistance. Residents are apparently...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Metrolinx says it will be repairing the Lawrence Avenue bridge on the Barrie GO line. I'm not very familiar with this area, but I see a lovely mural on Google Maps. I hope it's not destroyed.
