Someone took this photo of a part of the door that was not covered up, and well it looks like the same crap... sigh.. Zellers will probably be their discount store...

All Fairweather stores are discount stores. Canada Weather Gear and all that crap. They sell the worst of the worst when it comes to fast fashion.

They did say they'd be selling home goods as well though so I would be interested to see more before jumping to conclusions... This is (literally) just a sliver of their inventory but I do agree it doesn't inspire much confidence, even if I knew it wouldn't be the same Zellers we all once knew.

It'll be the discountest discount store that ever discounted 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When it comes to the "discounted but not really because we always say it's discounted" they are the worst at it. Second worst is YM (Urban Planet, Bluenotes) but at least they know when the buck stops and you know what you're buying- worst I have gotten from them are cheap jeans that stink of formaldehyde. Fairweather/Stockhomme/International Clothiers/Designer Depot will sell you a $130 suit with broken stitching that you wear once, or a $200 jacket full of cheap down that leaks and a zipper that will break on its second use.

Was that not the expected market positioning for the Zellers brand? It's known as a discount brand around the Walmart segment. A Yorkdale store, if true would probably be Les Ailes. Certainly not Zellers, Oxford would never allow it.

There's a market for Zellers. The Bay's fatal mistake was trying to compete in the upscale market with dilapidated and outdated suburban stores that would have done just fine as a Zellers. Had The Bay downscaled their doors to prime locations and converted their less impressive doors to Zellers, they probably would've survived, or at the very least the novelty of a Zellers reboot might've gotten them through the downturn in the market.

If you look closely at this video, as far as clothing goes, this new Zellers is nothing more than an oversized IC store. Not sure what else they'll be selling though...
(also mentioned, IC closed their other store in the mall to open this Zellers...)

If that is the case, I fully expect it to go tits up before the third store opens.

International Clothiers sell stuff that makes Flea Markets look good.

i wonder why they delayed it a month

I wonder if they were expecting less media attention, and have had to somewhat rethink their approach because of all the expectations from the public now. The public is expecting to walk into a Zellers. Walking into a larger IC is going to tank this launch.
