"Everybody here is either a Liberal or New Democrat."

I don't agree with that. There is a wide range of views on this board, and that is part of what makes it great. Maybe if you had said 'the majority' I could agree, but it is far from everyone.

Well, one less "variety"..... Looks like "Are Be" was banned.... at least he is not around anymore and his last several messages (where he stated in undiplomatic language what he thought about being censored) were deleted.

Ok, I didn't mean to say everybody here is voting either Liberal or NDP. What I meant to emphasize is everybody here is in those two quadrants (New Democrat -> Liberatarian Left or Liberal -> Liberatarian Right). It's only me that stands out into Socialist but Patriotic side (Left Authoratarian).

Not necessarily. You may just be the only one who admits to it.

And how do those who discover they're in the "Right-Authoritarian" quadrant, alongside Hitler, feel? Are they going to post their results? Probably not, though it is unwise to assume they don't exist. Maybe they're a silent majority. We'll probably never know.

So is Saddam Hussien better than Hitler? (Left Authoritarian)

cacruden:

Well, one has 20+ million dead (and an attempted systematic annhilation of an entire culture) under his belt; the other is more or less local warlord. Not much comparison.

GB

Economic Left/Right: -5.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.41

Pretty much where Gandhi stands.

Just call me Garden of Gandhi

When you get into millions dead -- Iraq v Kuwait (UN), Iraq v Iran (8 years -- millions dead -- of course they were only arabs killing arabs), half million dead in starvation while 8 USD billion dollars sat in the oil for food "bank account". Attempted anilation (sp) of the Kurds (which was only stopped by the "safe area"). That is a little more than a local warlord.

Of course the largest chunk of Hitler's victims were Russian troops.... now if they had only NOT FOUGHT there would not have been 20+ million -- more like 5 to 10 million.

Been a while since I took this test:

Economic Left/Right: -7.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.21

Would be interesting to see how these results change over time.

I want to be part of the list!!!

Anyway, here's my results...

Libertarian Left
Economic Left/Right: -5.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.03

Gandhi / Mandela territory for me too.

I remember doing this about a year ago and Ken Livingstone (the Mayor of London) was on the graph at the time. I guess they've taken him off since. Anyway, I remember landing pretty much directly on his dot (which made me very happy as I think he's a very cool cat).

Also, there's a page in Michael Adam's book Fire & Ice: The United States, Canada and the Myth of Converging Values that features an averaged-out Canadian response to those questions against a U.S. response. The differences are quite stark, even when you look at something like an average Albertan's response versus an average Texan's response. Canadians collectively are Libertarian Left while Americans are collectively Authoritarian Right and the difference is growing not contracting.

I generally consider myself pretty left-wing, and I was a little surprised to see that I was ranking so low on the list. So, I took the test again. Surprisingly, my economic rank was the exact same, but my authoritarian rank was far lower (mainly because I think I was avoiding the 'Strongly Disagree' the first time that I took the test). So, here's my second results:

Economic Left/Right: -2.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.51

"Iraq v Iran (8 years -- millions dead -- of course they were only arabs killing arabs)"

Iranians aren't Arabs.
